  • nice suv but horrible gas mileage!!! - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

weve had our pilot for 11 mos. and my #1 complaint is the gas mileage. im lucky to get 17 mpg on the hwy. its a nice suv. however, i dont think i would purchase another one. ive already had something go wrong with the suspension, 1 recall, horrible gas mileage, and about 4 times a month it dies when you first start it. for a vehicle that only has 10K miles i feel that this should not be a problem. i totally baby this car, i try to go no faster than 70 mph on hwy and still get 17 mpg if im lucky. if getting good gas mileage does not matter to you than i would suggest this vehicle! it does handle well and is reliable.

  • Fine Vehicle - 2004 Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot is a fine vehicle, loaded with amenities, it is larger inside than the outside appearance would make one believe; also we are pleased with the short turning radius and that the car takes regular fuel, a real economical plus. The only complaints I would have with the car is that on our Pilot the front passenger seat is manual with few settings for comfort. Another problem I see is the lack of ac/heat vents in rear of vehicle this does cause some discomfort for passengers in back area of car in hot weather. And on our 2003 model the outside temperature gauge does not register the correct outside temp.

the suv has been everything it says it is. we can see much better out all the windows than the others we test drove.the suv has a very solid feel.we made the right choice by purchasing the pilot.

  • Not Bad - 2004 Honda Pilot

I bought this vehicle used from auction, it is a basic EX, and impressed with the room inside, I dont like the shifter, doors should lock automaticly when gear in drive and should unlock when parked. I liked the third seat, it is somewhat comfy and folds nicely. Typical honda built with lots of plastic (pampered myself with german cars forever) but functional. I would like the ride to be more connected to the road and have a middle dash shifter. Couldnt try for MPG yet but it seem to guzzle.

  • Love my honda pilot - 2004 Honda Pilot

I got a pilot for the the third row seat, but after driving it, i knew it was the right pick. The way it drove it was awesome. Will buy another one in a heart beat. Might not have the looks but I love it the same. Once you drive it you see why it is the one for you.

  • Still new, but so far so good - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

Ive owned the Pilot just 2 weeks. so well see, but so far so good. Dealer, Coral Springs Honda in Fl was very good to work with. If Im allowed I will post further in a few months. The Pilot seems to have great build quality, good fit and finish. I like the interior layout very well, its sensible with lots of storage.Very quiet running, except on freeway. I havent punched it all, as manual advises not to in first 600 miles. 17.5 mpg on first two tankfulls, 50/50 mixture of city/highway w/o a/c running.

  • Best mid SUV for the money - 2004 Honda Pilot

After owning a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero we wanted something less truck-like. At the end we had to decide between the Mitsubishi Endeavor and the Honda Pilot, both cars drive great, in fact the endeavor drives a little better but we ended up with the Pilot because it can seat up to 8 (endeavor seats 5) and it has Hondas high resale value, unfortunatelly our Mitsubishi Montero depreciated enormously. Up to now we are happy with the Pilot and for the money its the best deal around in semi-luxury SUVs.

Once dealer worked through early transmission issues, performance is fine. Im dissapointed that rear seats do not lay down flat! Overall it is a good auto with some minor design flaws.

  • Good SUV But LOts of Little Problems - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

POSITIVES: Attractive vehicle, both inside and out. Excellent use of interior space for both occupants and cargo. Storage room galore. Very good quality parts and fit/finish. Neat built-in lights in rear grab handles. Great power and smooth transmission. Resale value. NEGATIVES: The 3.5L V6 sometimes doesnt crank up right away (dealer says Honda is aware of this problem with that particular engine, but no fix for it yet). Numerous trim pieces had to be replaced in first 12,000 miles (e.g. the molding containing the drivers seat power switches broke a rear door threshold molding broke the drivers inside door handle started to peel apart) -- not what one expects from a "Honda".

  • The Best New Pilot - 2004 Honda Pilot

The reliability cannot be beaten because it is a Honda but the exterior styling is extremely bland. The interior provides a very high comfort level and it gets good mileage. The lack of an arm rest in the rear seat takes away some relaxation for passengers back there.
