Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • I like it - 2009 Honda Pilot

Purchased in Jan 09 after much looking and reading. I read so many complaints about the styling that I almost did not buy it. I traded a Landcruiser because I was looking for something with better gas mileage, and economy. I love my Pilot. Once you are in the car, you forget about the boxy style. I am getting twice the gas mileage as in my previous car. It is a safe, fun , reliable car to drive. I bought the 4wd for traveling off road later. I plan to keep my Pilot for many years. Service has been very good.

  • Completely different from my last one - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I previously owed a 2011 touring model. Had no problems. I now own a 2016 Elite. Gas mileage, acceleration, exterior, interior and overall performance is much better than my previous Pilot. The navigation system is a little hard to operate but that may be because I was so familiar with the older version. I do not care for the navigation lock out . It may be a safety feature but it disallows my passenger from making changes to the map and destination while vehicle is in motion. The safety systems, and there are many, seem to work well. Im a little Leary of the forward collision system so I elect to shut it down. I feel it sometimes over reacts and then is sluggish to retire. There is also a by pass for the engine idle shut off but it has to be activated every time the car is restarted. Wish there was a way to disable this function on a more permanent basis. Front seats do not seem as comfortable as on my 2011 Pilot. That may be due to the seats being ventilated as well as heated. The drivers seat arm rest and front passenger arm rest leave much to be desired in my opinion. They are adjustable up and down but seem very small and rather cheap. Other than those few complaints, Im very happy with the vehicle so far. May be to soon to give a thumbs up approval because I have only owned this vehicle since January of this year.

I have only started driving recently, this car is my parents car, however it is soon to become mine, even at 6 years of age this car cannot stop impressing my friends when it comes out on Friday nights. It is obviously not as tight as it used to be, but it is bulletproof, I have done some things to it that I regret, however it shrugged it off and kept going like it was no biggie. I love how simple it is compared to all my friends cars, yet it gets the job done, despite playing with 2008 and 2009 model BMWs and Lexuses. It rocks and I will never give it up until the thing is truly done, I dont even want a newer car I love this one so much!

I went to german suv (mercedes)what a mistake constantly in shop for little problems. Our pilot is probably the best car we have owned with the only exception being our 94 acura legend. We also have a ford explorer, no comparison to the honda. I highly recomend the pilot you wont be dissappointed with this suv.

  • Quality SUV - 2003 Honda Pilot

My last 2 vehicles were Jeep Grand Cherokees. Theres no comparison when it comes to the quality of construction and sophistication of engineering that went into the design of the Pilot. You can tell when you close the door, operate the controls, and drive it how much better the Honda is compared to the Jeep.

I have owned many different vehicles over the years, but the Honda Pilot now tops my list as favorite. It is easy and fun to drive. It has a tight turning radius, which is difficult to find in an SUV that seats 8 people! The suspension is awesome, it rides very smooth. The seats are comfortable (although the third row seats are a tight fit for adults but great for kids) It is just a great vehicle for all types of terrain.

Solid, reliable, safe and fun. Plus huge cargo capacity. A great replacement for my Toyota Previa AWD which to my great sorrow was discontinued.
