Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Great Car! - 2007 Honda Pilot

I bought this 2007 Honda Pilot in January 2009. It had 37,000 miles on it. After doing much research (the most informative of which I found on Edmunds.com) I decided on this car. I have loved it! Reliable, comfortable, great storage space up front for purse and "stuff". I tracked my mileage for the first 6 months. Avg highway of 17 mpg. On a road trip, it goes up to 21. I would have liked higher highway mileage, but its ok. I knew that going into it because of the reviews on Edmunds. The 3rd row seats are great for kids. It has been a fabulous car and Im glad I bought it!

I have had two Grand Cherokees and the Honda Pilot out weighs both of them. The Honda has an extremely smooth ride! The quality of the Pilot is exceptional. In comparison, the Jeeps were the same sticker price and the Honda has more features. Some of the features that the Jeeps did not have are heated seats, DVD, rear air/heat controls, seats for 8, etc. for the same sticker price. Honda gives you a lot for the money. I highly recommend this SUV!

I have about to complete 1000 miles on my 2004 Silver Honda Pilot. I went with running boards, cargo organizer and exshaut finishers as accesories. So far we are having a great expericence.

Excellent Honda quality. This vehicle drives like a car and is so spacious. This is my first SUV but my 5th Honda. I know why Honda markets it as The Honda of SUVs.

  • My first Experience in a PILOT - 2003 Honda Pilot

Road trip 600mile.I got only 12- 14city/19mpg highway. VERY NOISY road/tire noise in 2nd/3Rd row where your childrens sits! Poor gove compartmnt design, your legs hits it when you stretch or try to put your legs agains the wall. Noise/squeeks behind the dash or radio. Wind noise is usual, but you will hear it loader than the highlander and sequoia. So if you looking for a quiet, nice, car for trip= this is NOT the car!!!! 2nd row seats is not even as roomy as a honda Accord. 3rd row seats are for children under age of 10. 4-YEARS of engineering a pilot and this is what they came up with?

  • Perfect Timing! - 2003 Honda Pilot

Really wanted the Pilot but just could not come to the realization that I was going to be forced to pay MSRP and atleast a 4.9% finance rate! And during the days of interest free financing going on with the American truck makers. I almost decided against the Pilot until I read one of these reviews and someone made the statement, "Id rather get a bad deal on a good vehicle than get a good deal on a bad vehicle". I thought that statement made alot of sense. So now Im a proud Pilot owner and I even was able to work a deal with the local dealer to get a great price on some running boards and have one of the dealer add ons at no cost.

  • 09 Touring--one month & 4,000 miles - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

Wow, this was quite the upgrade from our last vehicle, so it was a little overwhelming with all the options that came with the 2009 Touring with RES. Still havent figured out everything. I was surprised at the size of it when I pulled it into the garage. This vehicle is huge, in a good way. The 8 person seating capability is great. Bluetooth phone is great for my wife who cant drive & hold a phone at the same time. The navigation unit far surpasses the portable one I just bought. I hope my enjoyment of the car continues for many years. I see no major issues yet.

  • Air Noise - 2005 Honda Pilot

The only thing I see wrong with the Pilot is there is no option for a sun roof, and when you have windows down there seems to be a air pocket noise at a certain speed that makes you roll the windows up.

  • HAPPY PILOT OWNER - 2004 Honda Pilot

I have had my Pilot for about a month now. Just Love It! Traded in my Accord with 178,000 miles on it, and still going strong. Had to get another Honda, cant beat the quality. My wife and I both love to drive it. The best way I can describe the ride is it feels like you are "driving a Lazyboy". Alot of good features for the money. Lots of storgage. Nice sound system. Did alot of reasearch on SUVs and the Pilot ranks as one of the best. We are a Honda family and the Pilot is another fine example of the high quality, fine autombiles that we have come to expect from Honda. Go test drive one, youll have a hard time leaving without it!

  • Worth the wait - 2004 Honda Pilot

I was tempted by other sport utes like Explorer and Jeep Liberty but Im glad I held out. I couldnt be happier in my Pilot. While this is my first Honda product it certainly wont be my last. Nothing Ive driven comes close to the smoothness and feeling of quality. The Toyota Highlander was a close second but if you drive them back to back youll notice the Pilot is significantly larger and when similarly equipped is the better bargain as well. Ive heard a lot of complaining about the fuel economy but I haventt noticed that it is that bad, probably around 20 mpg. Not bad for a mid-size suv. Overall a great ride.
