Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Beats the Jeep! - 2010 Honda Pilot

Ive had the Pilot for about month and so far Im satisfied with my purchase. On the plus side, smart instrumentation, room for eight, smooth cruising vehicle and good looking. On the down side, acceleration a bit sluggish, engine a tad noisy around town, the "information center" isnt the most intuitive. (cant display odometer and outside temperature simultaneously). I drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee for 10 years, but its no "Honda". The gas mileage on the Pilot is comparable and the quality build of the Honda far exceeds that of the Jeep.

Everything on my vehicle seems to be great except for the fuel economy. My mileage averages about 12mpg in the city and 16 mpg on the hwy, quite contrary to what is stated on the sticker. I recently had it brought in for service for a leaking gasket on the driver side passenger door. The problem seems to be resolved. If your looking for a roomy but not oversized SUV this is the one to buy, but dont look for great gas mileage with gas prices being thru the roof.

We are very pleased with our recent purchase. Lots of storage space, well thought out compartments, very nice interior trim. Ride comfort is excellent, engine is smooth. Nav system is very good although the software is several years out of date. Audio system is good, dash mounted tweeters are a little shrill. Excellent visibility, large mirrors and good over the hood view. We compared ML350, RX330, MDX, Murano, Touareg.

Pathetic front row driver and passenger seats, slow ride, does not feel peppy, not enough acceleration. Should have bought the CX-9 or highlander. Totally Unhappy with truck/SUV.

This is a large comfortable vehicle that rolls like a vault at highway speed yet is nimble in town, a joy to drive with people, amazing, very large items will fit inside with 2ond & 3rd tier seats down..as my work platform taking calls the large cockpit functions well with many storage spaces and flat areas to take notes..drive- train and suspension are Honda benchmark quality and Im really hooked on the appearance now..did the 60/2.9% finance and TMV pricing..difficult to beat over time.

  • 2010 Pilot Touring - 2010 Honda Pilot

2010 Pilot after my first month has been impressive. Fuel economy has been average but the rugged design and handling make up for it. Steering is very good and the seats are very comfortable. The large number of options on the touring take time to learn but once you learn they are great. The navigation system is outstanding, along with the backup system. The automatic climate control system is very good.

  • Bigger than than the CR-V - 2016 Honda Pilot

The Pilot is a lot bigger than the CR-V, it had taken some getting used to when judging parking and such. Very roomy however. The only thing about the car that I dont care for is the keyless start system.

  • So Far So Good - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

I just traded in my 2006 Pilot for the 2009 because I could not find a 2008 SE in my area. That being said, I read all of the reviews and was quite hesitant, but so far I am pleasantly surprised and happy with the vehicle. It is definitely geared more toward its competitors of the Pathfinder and 4Runner in that it drives much more like a truck which will be a disappointment for anyone looking for the new Pilot to be exactly like the old. With that being said, its overall functionality is much more than the previous models in that it is much more spacious, heavy duty and an "all around" family vehicle.

  • Comfortable, safe, we love it! - 2003 Honda Pilot

Only a month ago, we went from a mammoth SUV to the Pilot -- great move! So far the Pilot has been fun to drive because its easy to maneuver and it responds well. Visibility is much better than in taller vehicles or air tunnel-designed cars. Inside the Pilot, changing from the third row to more cargo space is a breeze! The optional cargo mat protects the third row and rolls up easily when the third row is in use.

Vehicle is fun to drive, has plenty of legroom and plenty of power. I like the set up of interior - everything is easy to find and use. I like radio control and cruise controls on the steering wheel and the center console has both great support for drinks and great storage. I am concerned with both gas mileage (18.5 avg) and some hesitation on starting but with only about a 1000 miles so far, I havent had it back to the dealer yet. Overall - great car!
