Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Most reliable car weve owned - 2007 Honda Pilot
    By -

Weve owned a Honda CRV then upgraded to a 2003 Pilot...Had numerous problems with the 03 after 6 months. Traded it in for an 07 and couldnt be happier. Gas mileage, eco mode, etc. great! Also hauls large trailers no problem. CONS: (1) area between console very hard to clean! (2)outside noise - all of our Hondas had this issue! (3)Engine sensors can be too sensitive. - Weve traveled across country w/this car and we felt absolutely safe knowing it was reliable. The 07 model is much nicer than the newer models. I would buy another one.

  • Best SUV in its class for the $ - 2010 Honda Pilot

We researched every SUV in this segment and hands down for the $$ the Honda Pilot EX-L w/ DVD is the best product. I do not agree with the Edmunds review or some of the others I have seen. For prospective buyers, I would test drive and come to your own conclusions. We got this vehicle for invoice $32814 (MSRP 36155) and they threw in the front door window tint and pin stripe. I paid $261 to get the trailer harness wiring installed.

  • front end problem - 2010 Honda Pilot

I bought my pilot in September 2009 I traded My pilot 2007 for the 2010. I found problems with the front end, it pulls to the right which I never had a problem with my 2007. Honda needs to recall this vehicle for the front end problem, and they better do it soon before some one gets into an accident.

This is the best vehicle we have ever owned. It drives like a car but has more than enough room for a family of four plus dogs.

  • 09-10 Pilots Pull to Right - 2010 Honda Pilot

While I very much like this SUV, we too have experienced the mysterious pulling to the right noted by other owners. In fact, we noticed it in several 2009s we test drove before eventually purchasing a 2010. Funny thing is, we specifically tested this while test driving and it was either not present or not pronounced enough to be readily noticeable. Our Pilot had just 15 miles on it when we bought so Im wondering if this is something that gets worse with mileage? Just returned from 500 mile round trip on freeways and driving straight requires constant pressure left on steering wheel. Have not returned to dealer yet but given the numerous reports, I doubt its an alignment issue.

  • IT GOT MY ATTENTION - 2010 Honda Pilot

If you havent been inside the new Pilot, then I suggest you give it a try. This thing is in a different ballpark than the pre 2009 designed Pilot. Heres the thing with the Pilot. We looked at a ton of crossovers, we have 3 smallish kids and when youre looking for room, utility, comfort, a truck feel with a car-like drive, this is it. Take the Mazda CX-9 for example. We climbed all over it but, in the end it was a car pretending to be a utility vehicle. Same with the Ford Flex. The Pilot feels like a truck but drives like a car. When we sat in the Pilot it felt huge. We traded in our Honda Odyssey and feel at home in the Pilot. Im thrilled with it so far.

  • Pleasure vehicle - 2005 Honda Pilot

Weve had this vehicle 2 weeks (EXL) and it is a pleasure to drive. We traded our 2003CRVEX which was a great car,but the Pilot is so much roomier, comfortable and luxurious.I looked and compared suvs and the Pilot was the best value, and suv. No need to purhcase manufacturers packages and options, everything was standard. In 35 years of driving this is the best weve had.

  • Love It! - 2010 Honda Pilot

The Pilot has a great ride, smooth acceleration, and great styling inside and out. I like it better than the previous styling due to the more chiseled look that makes it feel more like a real SUV than a mini van. The sound system is great. They have tons of storage space in compartments everywhere throughout the vehicle. The ECO feature is really neat. The gas mileage is not overly impressive by the numbers, but for such a large SUV, it is pretty darn good compared to many of its competitors. Honda did a great job with this one!

  • So glad I bought - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

I bought this vehicle with the intent that it would be my daughters first vehicle after she turned 16 this year and I would upgrade. This past week my daughter had her first accident which was a roll over. I cannot tell you how glad I am I bought this vehicle. It did everything it should have to protect her. Everyone including the insurance adjuster has commented on what a great job the support system in this truck did in protecting my child. Thank you Honda.
