Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Cant go wrong w/the Pilot - 2004 Honda Pilot

Bought this new, now 5 years and 90K+ miles later still love this Pilot! Very reliable, great mileage (20+ in daily commuting) when lead shoe isnt worn, only maintenance & tires to date. Its not sexy but its not supposed to be either. Regularly haul 3-8 total (adults + teens) with no problem. Highly recommend any Pilot.

  • Solid Car - 2006 Honda Pilot

I bought this car b/c are family was expanding to 3 kids. It is held up remarkably well and is a very solid car. It seats 5 kids easily. The ride in the front seats is good. The ride in the 2nd and 3rd rows is stiff (the bench seats are very stiff). I have had no problems with the car and I am up to 100k miles. For the money, it was an excellent buy. My one pain point with the car is the gas mileage...it is avg about 19 mpg which translates into a big fuel big for someone with a decent commute length.

Traded in our 2007 Odyssey for pilot. Miss the room the van provided have three kids who play lots of sports. Interior quality could be better. Have not seen pull to the right issue, but did mention that as a concern when we bought and the salesperson said never heard of that! Didnt really test drive many other suvs although gmc Acadia has gotten good reviews. Stuck with Honda for reliability factor. Hopefully wont be disappointed.

  • BEST SUV SO FAR - 2010 Honda Pilot

I never thought of purchasing an SUV, I was looking at sedans last year but then I never have enough room when I drive home for vacations. I looked at the pathfinder, highlander, 4runner and the aspen. Then while driving home I was passed by a fast moving pilot, I went for a test drive on all SUVs mentioned above but the pilot was the cream of the crop. It had everything I wanted and more for the price the room and comfort sold me. I wish the gas mileage was better since it has a engine management system but I already knew what I was getting into since it is an SUV.

  • Not so sure about Hondas anymore - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

My husband and I have had several Hondas - some new, some used. In 2003, we decided to buy a new Pilot. All was fine until last year when the air conditioner went out - very costly. Today we found out there is a problem with a rod and the whole engine will have to be torn apart - extremely costly. I am not at all happy with this vehicle that only has 70,000 miles on it and has had all service and oil changes done. My husband always takes great care of our cars. I will re-think another new Honda purchase in the future.

  • Love our Pilot! - 2010 Honda Pilot

Overall, very satisfied. Primarily used by my wife who drives 1/2 mile to work one way. Mileage is bad but with wifes short commute, this isnt that critical. Engine compartment fuse box cover was missing and only discovered after getting vehicle home. This necessitated a trip back to dealer. Ride on highway not bad at all for a "truck". Acceleration and braking seem fine. Additional room from the 2007 Pilot we turned in at lease-end is a plus. Bothersome that the roof rack is a $400.00 extra. Other than that, no complaints.

  • Great Vehicle! - 2010 Honda Pilot

Previous to this I had a 2000 Honda Accord, after two kids we needed more space. This Pilot definitely has more space and can comfortably fit three across (with a car seat in the middle). It has a smooth drive and the gas mileage is as advertised, though I do not have a lead foot and drive conservatively. The interior is very roomy, I was surprised it was so big. The leather does seem a bit cheap since it seems like it discolors easily and attracts the blue color off of jeans, I have the light grey leather. Overall I am very pleased with my new Pilot. It gets great mileage, has lots of room, is very safe and easy to drive and maneuver and I enjoy it immensely!

I have put 1500 mi on my pilot in 2 weeks. The dashboard is well light and easy to read. The fog lights are GREAT. Gas mileage is about 20.5 so far, but its a Honda so I will get better. I dont notice any pulling to the right as mentioned by others. Handles very well in 6 in snow.

  • Great buy for long term ownership - 2008 Honda Pilot

Built like a tank. Very sturdy. Bought in 2008 , no repairs required yet just routine maintenance. Paint and interior look brand new 8 years later. Great SUV

The seats are stiff which goes along with the ride. The leather is not soft. I have decided that I really do not like the style. I have had electrical problems.
