This Year's Model Updates:

The 2005 Honda Pilot receives a new 255-hp engine, along with numerous functional changes. A tire-pressure monitoring system has been added, and EX models with leather get vehicle stability control. Slightly increased fuel capacity helps extend driving range, and a revised power steering pump provides improved on-center steering feel. Inside the cabin, the instrument panel has been tweaked with ambient lighting and a six-disc CD changer for all EX trims. A driver footrest has been added, and leather-upholstered EX models can now be had with a sunroof. The LX now has standard keyless entry, and all models get an integrated remote key and fob. Honda has made slight frame changes this year that resulted in improved IIHS crash test ratings.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.
Cons:
  • Mediocre towing capacity, side curtain airbags not available, feels big behind the wheel.

  • Almost Pleased - 2005 Honda Pilot

Ive always been a Ford person with excellent dealer service. The Honda Pilot was to be an interim car while I waited for Ford to put more towing capacity in the Freestyle. Ive have grown to like the Pilot, but the dealers dont have a clue about many things as compared to the Ford experience Ive had. They dont know how to fix things like rattles, poor gas gage calibration or back-up sensors. Also, they dont know if Honda put in brake-in oil. Want to change oil earlier than book. Had to give service people information taken off internet and Edmunds.

  • The Best! - 2005 Honda Pilot

This is the best car for people who have multiple little children. The interior holds up well to messy hands and there is plenty of leg room in the third row. A BEST BUY!

  • On my second pilot - 2005 Honda Pilot

The first pilot was brand new when we hit some black ice, spun around and went off an embankment. We rolled down a hill then up the other side, then back down and landed upside down in the river. My two sons and dog were all unhurt. The pilot was a mess. Bought a second one based on the way it survived that event. The build of the car probably saved my life as we hit a tree in midair and the roof partially collapsed over my head. If it had completely collapsed I would not be writing this. No air bags deployed during our flight/roll/impacts, which was also a good thing.

  • On My Way to a "Hat Trick" - 2005 Honda Pilot

I am the proud owner of my second Pilot and plan to replace it with my third. Three in a row. The "Hat Trick" I traded my first Pilot in on my second. I received $23,000 for my trade and paid $5,500 to drive off in my new 04. It cost me $5,500 to drive 18 months and 45,000 miles. My Pilots have never had any warrenty work. They are a problem free vehicals.

I bought a 2003 Pilot and put 62,000 miles on it in 2 years. I averaged 21- 22 miles per gallon and never had a seconds problem with it.Thats why I bought a 2005 Pilot. It is quiet, solid, rides great, with good power and great gas mileage.

I like a vehicle that is higher so you can see what is going on up ahead. Very roomy and comfortable.

Honda Pilot is the best SUV I was able to buy with these highest quality and reliability grades. Im a car fan with a strong orientation to SUVs since theyre roomy and theyre high enough to allow me see among the traffic. Visibility, Quality, Good Looking and "Roomy" interior are the features of Pilot. After awhile driving it doesnt seems too big behind the wheel, but very powerfull, the engine (240hp 3.5L V-Teck) provides an excellent strenght that make you feel confident when passing other vehicles or crossing with a yellow light. Another good feature is the clearence and the accessibility to the driver seat; it feels like first class and drives safely for a sized family w/grandparents.

  • Great ride quality, low gas mileage - 2005 Honda Pilot

I love this Pilot the more I drive it. I also have an S2000 and this is fine when the whole family has to go. It rides so well. I am used to my 4-Runner It does not even come close the performance of this. Even the new ones with the V8 engine. I only have about 3000 miles so far and have had not one little problem so far. Typical Honda quality.

I have loved every Honda I have owned. But the Pilot is the best. It provides versatility, performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency into one vehicle!

  • Love my car other than... - 2005 Honda Pilot

Before I purchased this car, I did my thorough research on the market. Even made a marketing plan for school on this vehicle. This car was absolutely for me. Having owned a previous Honda, I assumed the Pilots reliability and quality would be as good as my CRX. To my dismay, Ive had an intermittent rattle noise in the dash that has not been repaired after numerous attempts at the dealership. Please be warned. Having that said, everything else in the car is wonderful and you wont find a better SUV under 30K.
