This Year's Model Updates:

Leather-equipped EX models get heated seats and side mirrors as standard equipment. Honda has improved the navigation system this year with a larger database, and all models have improved walk-in accessibility to the third-row seat. All Hondas have a seatbelt reminder system added for 2004.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride.
Cons:
  • Mediocre towing capacity, feels big behind the wheel.

Represents my first SUV purchase. The Pilot has made it a smoother transition from years of owning sedans. So far it has proved to demanstrate the samereliability that Honda has been known for. Had an Accura TL & the Pilot has many of same comfort & performance features .

I had a lot of trouble with my pilot when I first bought it. There was hesitation at 40 mph. After the recall work was done and the replacement of an egr valve it was better but not cured. A lot to have had done on a new car! My seats are not as comfy, like they are losing fluff. But the interior room is the best in this range. My son is 63, 266 pounds! The radio rattles and is of poor quality and there is a lot of tire noise. I wouldnt buy it again and may end up selling it for a Land Cruiser or another Toyota. At least it will keep its value for resale. It is growing on me though.

I love this vehicle. Only disappointment is that there are no garment hooks! Small thing, but a huge thing when you are bring home dry cleaning or going on a trip.

Chose the Pilot after comparing to other SUVs. Had it about a month with no problems - three long weekend trips with varied driving conditions. Its comfortable, handles well, and has plenty of room. Have hauled 6 kids, and with the adjustable back seats you can stagger bigger kids to make everyone comfortable. The way the rear seats fold make for a large number of people/gear configurations possible. Cant wait to test out the AWD on ski trips this winter! The Pilot a great overall value, got a great price from the Dealers internet sales. Our friends think it cost much more than it did.

This SUV rides more like a car than a truck. Quite a nice vehicle over all.

Went to the Pilot over the Toyo Highlander after 2 Subie Forestors. Pilot is a major size upgrade from the Subie, which we loved, but outgrew. Goodyear OEM tires suck and will be replaced soon, after 28k miles, in preparation for winter 2004-05. Great ride on local and highway roads, but hate the tires after about 15K miles...they feel soft and squeal when they should not, noisy on concrete and quit on asphalt, although pressure is checked and maintained. Tough to clean floor at sides of front seats..narrow area prevents insertion of standard vac tools. Paint is good and cleans well. Love the delayed smart wipers that slow down when at stop and speed

  • Buy one and you wont regret it. - 2004 Honda Pilot

Ive had my Honda Pilot EX with leather and the navigation system almost a year now and I cant say enough good things about it. It handles like a car in town and climbs like a cat off road. When I bought my Pilot I actually had to start up my old vehicle twice and get ready to pull out of the dealership before they ran out after me. With $1,800 worth of additional accessories over the sticker value of the car I ended up paying $500 over sticker for it which I thought was an excellent deal since I was reading of everyone paying $1,500 to $2,500 over sticker at the time. Go out and buy one and you wont regret it.

  • Good car but not a good start...... - 2004 Honda Pilot

Bought my Pilot EX-L last Saturday. I like everything about this car and I drove off the lot with my family on Saturday night. While we are driving back home, I noticed that I could not roll down the front and back passenger side windows from the driver side control buttons. In addiion, door lock and unlock buttom from driver side would not work. And last but the least, interior lights would not go off. It has been only two days and I am taking my new Pilot back to the dealer for some minor repair. Its a good car but I would recommend you to check little things like buttons windows and door locks, etc.

It is better than the American SUVs on Fuel Economy and style. My last car was a Mini Van and this is the Mini Van of the 21st century.
