I work in the automotive industry and have therefore had plenty of opportunity to test drive almost all suvs available on the market thoroughly. The Pilot is hands down the number one suv as far as comfort, usefullness and value. It is very roomy, rides extremely well, has great power, and unlike its domestic rivals it is, like any other Honda product, reliable!

Mpg is 15 around town. When back windows are down and the front arent, there is a helicopter sound that almost blows out your eardrums. Got a recall on front airbags (blow out too fast on impact) but dealer couldnt fix problem without new tools to be sent from manufacturer. Has been driven in tons of snow but still have yet to use 4wd. Love interior space in Pilot vs. other mid-size SUVs. 3rd row seat works for 13 yr old who wants her own space. Added after-market DVD player for 1/2 the price, but got Honda run. boards, cross bars, wheel locks. $500 discount from intial contact w/dealer by internet.

  • Pilot review of trip to Vegas - 2003 Honda Pilot

Looking for 2 years then this came out, bought it over Highlander. So much more roomy, 5 of us to Las Vegas with luggage, cooler etc., tons of cargo area, was able to see in rear view mirror too. Air is soooo cold, love the center console. Took 7 large basketball players for three days to games, no complaints, even in third row, there feet were squished but they had no problems. Got so many looks when picked up at valet at hotels, people pointing on street, it was great. I love the white and cloth seats, after leather it really is more comfy and cool. My son loves the subwoofer.

What a nice surprise after two Jeeps---I am hoping the reliability will compare to the two Hondas I had before the Jeeps, especially my 99. That was a very bad experience!

I "bribed" my wife to drive all the usual suspects (Explorer, Expedition, Durango, Highlander, Tahoe, TrailBlazer, Ascender, Envoy, Mountineer) when she declared she was ready to replace her full sized van. The Pilot just felt right. Plenty of power, loads of features, quality materials inside. Got the EX with leather for 2K less than MSRP. Nothing but great so far.

Honda Pilot is one of the best SUVs out there. It handles just like a car and doesnt suck up too much gas. The ride is excellent. The interior design of the Pilot may look plain but it is something that I would sacrifice for its great overall performance.

  • Great in a Blizzard - 2003 Honda Pilot

The Pilot performed exceptionally well during the Denver Blizzard of March 2003. I had no trouble driving through 18 inches of unplowed snow in my neighborhood. I pulled 4 of my neighbors from the main streets through the subdivision streets using a tow strap. I pulled a subaru 4 wheel drive, a lexus 4 series, a buick late model, and a honda civic to their homes. The owner of the buick said they should have done a commercial for the Honda Pilot becasue he could not believe how well it operated in the blizzard snows we received. I have a stock EX. I could not be happier with my Pilot.

It comes with a lot of details that are really good and were the the things that attracted me to but it. Nevertheless, I have found some areas that need some improvement. spend a lot of gas; 12mpg city and 15mpg in highway. I know is an SUV, however, japanesse cars are known for being gas econimic. glove compartment needs more space; only a book fits there. last seats row could use a little bit more of height, when I sat one day at that row, I felt as if I was seating by the curb of the road, my knees were way high and I am only a 5.5 foot tall guy. when carrying something on a hitch (four bicycles) the rear suspension buckles. thanks

This was the best car purchase Ive yet made. Its fun, and practical. The Honda Pilot has enough room for my family of five with plenty of cargo space as well. I highly recommend this vehicle to someone who is looking to "upsize".
