This Year's Model Updates:

The 2005 Honda Pilot receives a new 255-hp engine, along with numerous functional changes. A tire-pressure monitoring system has been added, and EX models with leather get vehicle stability control. Slightly increased fuel capacity helps extend driving range, and a revised power steering pump provides improved on-center steering feel. Inside the cabin, the instrument panel has been tweaked with ambient lighting and a six-disc CD changer for all EX trims. A driver footrest has been added, and leather-upholstered EX models can now be had with a sunroof. The LX now has standard keyless entry, and all models get an integrated remote key and fob. Honda has made slight frame changes this year that resulted in improved IIHS crash test ratings.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.
Cons:
  • Mediocre towing capacity, side curtain airbags not available, feels big behind the wheel.

This vehicle has power when needed. I hit a deer on the highway and the car took the brunt of the impact; I hardly felt it. It didnt look very good until it was fixed but drove great.

  • So far so good... - 2005 Honda Pilot

Took delivery of a 2005 EXL about 10 days ago. Initial impressions are very good with only a few gripes on this vehicle. The Pilot drives very much like a large car with little of the vague handling you might find with the more common body on frame type SUVs. Power is close to best in class, though torque data would suggest this isnt the SUV to buy if you plan to tow much and there is no hitch installed as standard. Overall styling in and out is a bit bland but can be helped with some of the dealer installed body options. Biggest issue I have is the large and heavy tailgate which opens very quickly and can be a bit of a handful to close. Overall I am very happy with this car.

I did the research and did the test for different Mid-Size SUVs and I dont regret at all. I have two friends who bought Chevrolet and Ford, and after a year they are thinking to switch to Honda Pilot. Space, Interior and performance are exceptional... very good relation Price/Benefit.

This is a great SUV. We looked at Dodge, Land Rover, Jeep, etc... The Pilot beat them all in both looks at the in the overall features and performnace catagories.

  • Great SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot

The Pilot is an SUV that thinks it is a car! The ride and feel are great. Actually , our Pilot rides better than our new Accord. It handles great and the gas mileage isnt too bad. The fit and quality is typical Honda- tight and quiet. We know as it is made on a line with Acura MDX. it has a fine engineering pedigree and demonstrates it in all aspects of automotive action. Ill probably buy it after the lease is up if it continues to offer the value it does now. The EXV-L is the best value because of the stability control this model adds to the package. If Honds smart they will make it a standard feature of all Pilots!!

  • Better than my Camry - 2005 Honda Pilot

My husband leased this car in November, but only got to drive it home from the dealership, because I love driving it! It replaces a VW Passat wagon (which I HATED!), and now he uses the Camry instead of me. After a few days adjusting to the "feel" of the car, I have not had any problems dealing with handling, manuevering, etc. It rides like a giant car, not like a truck. With 2 young children, the DVD player is a godsend! It kept them occupied for the 5+ hour ride from Philly to Pittsburgh and back one recent weekend.

  • Honda Winner - 2005 Honda Pilot

An all around outstanding SUV. Looked at several other SUVs ranging from the domestics and so-called hi-end european models. The Pilot won hands down for my wife and myself. It has a wonderful balance of performance and luxury with an emphasis on relaibility. We also own a Honda CR-V and rely heavily upon its reliability and durability.

The honda pilot is excellent. Very smooth and not bumpy compared to most SUVs. Very roomy and so easy to fold the seats down to make more room. Very fun to drive.
