Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Good but could be better... - 2016 Honda Pilot

Coming from an 09 Expedition Eddie Bauer, Im somewhat disappointed. Overall performance is great. And Honda reliability and resale are a definite plus. But armrests, seriously, couldnt Honda include a decent center console? And the tech in this Honda is definitely lacking. Voice commands are a joke, it thought Vero Beach Florida was Deer Lake Ohio, really? The Sync in my 08 Focus is way better. I did get a great deal, and this car is very nice overall, and very affordable when compared to similar models. But there are a number of small annoying issues, like no drivers seat memory settings. Ill probably trade back up to an Expedition when I can find a really good deal on one.

  • Love my car other than... - 2005 Honda Pilot

Before I purchased this car, I did my thorough research on the market. Even made a marketing plan for school on this vehicle. This car was absolutely for me. Having owned a previous Honda, I assumed the Pilots reliability and quality would be as good as my CRX. To my dismay, Ive had an intermittent rattle noise in the dash that has not been repaired after numerous attempts at the dealership. Please be warned. Having that said, everything else in the car is wonderful and you wont find a better SUV under 30K.

  • Just what I wanted! - 2014 Honda Pilot

I purchased my pilot used/off lease in January of 2016 and I think it was quite pricy. I test drove this pilot and a 2014 Durango and I thought the Durango may have been a notch above the pilot in handling however the pilot was by far the smoothest. The Pilot is quiet, tight and a great highway vehicle. Now, I owned a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 for 10 years and switching to this pilot was night and day! Now, the interior does have a lot of hard surfaces but I think this keeps with the intended mission of the Pilot, its designed to be a sport utility vehicle. If I wanted plush I sure as hell wouldnt buy a Pilot! Our regular weekend trips to the Poconos was far more enjoyable for me because after 3 hours in the Pilot my back and left leg was no longer sore and numb, this Pilot has great seats! I read the reviews before buying and was concerned about the VCM issue however I have never felt any vibration, as a matter of fact the only way to know is seeing the little ECO light flash on and off. I think the driving position in the Pilot is great, how the pedals, the steering wheel and controls all fall within easy reach. I spent some time setting up the audio and blue tooth and never had any problems. The stereo system works quite well however a few stations I used to pick up with an antenna I cant get with my Pilot. I think the final decision for me was the shape and interior storage, the second row can easily seat 3 adults and the third can easily seat 3 teenagers, with the rear seats down the storage is amazing. With the looks, storage and Hondas stellar reputation this was an easy decision.

  • check engine light - 2014 Honda Pilot

I have 2014 Honda Pilot. I like it very much, but here is the reason why I gave the low rating to it. The check engine light comes on and off. The code indicates that it needs a replacement of catalytic converter. At one Honda service I was charged for checking the code and at another one they replaced catalytic converter for no charge, but the check engine light is still coming on and off. I had several Honda cars. My last Honda accord has about 150000 miles and it also started having the same problem, but for 2 years old engine this is just ridiculous.

  • 06 Pilot LX - 2006 Honda Pilot

This is a review of a ten day old Pilot LX with 500+ miles driven. (Previous car was a 00 Accord LX-V6). Overall smooth power delivery and transmission shifts. The ride is generally pleasant with some road noise. On rougher roads, there were some low pitch rattle from behind the driver seat (or may be behind the second row.) Driving position is good with supportive seat. Controls are accessible and intuitive. On the first 2 tanks of gas, I am averaging about 21mpg with 80% highway (sometime congested) driving. Versatility is excellent with easy steps to different seating configurations. Overall, this SUV has most features I want and presents a good value.

  • The SUV of all SUVs - 2006 Honda Pilot

My Pilot is so comfortable, fun to drive, air conditioning system is well more than I expected. I can see all angles, no blind spots. I feel safe driving this car because of all air bags around. Excellent!!!

  • I Love My Pilot! - 2003 Honda Pilot

Ive owned a Honda before (1986 Civic which still ran, no problems after 150,000 miles.) I was elated to see Honda come out with a larger SUV. It was time to trade in the mini-van (Chrysler) and I just wasnt ready for another mechanical nightmare. The Pilot is as roomy as that van and offers almost as much versatility. The ride is great. My husband has a bad back, and said its the most comfortable ride he has had across country (over a van, a Civic and an Intrepid). I was worried that the gas mileage would be poor, but have found it actually gets a mile or two better per gallon in the city than most mini-vans. (Several miles better on the highway.)

  • This Vehicle is Awesome - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

Since getting the car in December it has performed flawlessly. Took it on a 1,500 mile trip to through the Adirondack Mts. in upstate NY and it handled snow, and all kinds of weather without a problem. Had 6 people in the car 99% of the time and everyone was comfortable. Two teenagers fit in the 3rd row seat without a problem. Entertainment system was appreciated by all. Also dual media source for front and back was excellent. This car drives smoothly, handles well for a truck and is very comfortable. Worth every penny of the purchase price. If like my other Hondas, I should own it problem free for a long time.
