Overview & Reviews
The 2005 Honda Pilot receives a new 255-hp engine, along with numerous functional changes. A tire-pressure monitoring system has been added, and EX models with leather get vehicle stability control. Slightly increased fuel capacity helps extend driving range, and a revised power steering pump provides improved on-center steering feel. Inside the cabin, the instrument panel has been tweaked with ambient lighting and a six-disc CD changer for all EX trims. A driver footrest has been added, and leather-upholstered EX models can now be had with a sunroof. The LX now has standard keyless entry, and all models get an integrated remote key and fob. Honda has made slight frame changes this year that resulted in improved IIHS crash test ratings.
- Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.
- Mediocre towing capacity, side curtain airbags not available, feels big behind the wheel.

Value!!! - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Chris Mehler - June 3 - 1:23 pmI traded a 2002 BMW X5 for a 2005 Pilot EX with leather and DVD. The Pilot is everything the X5 was and then some. Great handling, performance, and ride. Way more comfortable than the Bimmer! Hondas technology is absolutely cutting edge without the price tag of the traditional high performance cars. Buy it today!

Pilot with a Noisy Bottom - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Rondelle - May 1 - 4:53 pmI feel comfortable driving the Pilot. It is great for long trips. The seats go down in the back for more storage and when traveling. It is a nine passenger vehicle, which is great when you need the room for others. I love the leather interior. The DVD Player is excellent. Great surround sound when playing a movie. I feel safe when driving this vehicle. Over all it is a great car.

By Daddy-O - April 28 - 10:50 amupgraded from a Taurus wagon - love the fit and feel. great pick-up on acceleration, steering and road handling is very stable. Steering is a bit light (not much to turn this beast!) love the flxible interior - oh and by the way - better fuel economy than the ford!

Best Mid Sized SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Gerry Z - April 9 - 8:40 amHad a 2002 Envoy prior to the Pilot. No comparison. The Honda is quieter, smoother riding, more spacious and comfortable interior. 10K trouble free miles so far far and has not been back to the dealer for anything.

Great SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Michael T. - March 31 - 2:20 pmI just bought the Pilot 2 days ago. We replaced a 98 Ford Explorer that was rolled in an ice storm. We looked at the Pathfinder and 4-Runner, but the Pilot had more for the money. It rides more solid and does not have so much of that SUV tilt in the curves. It has a very smooth ride and we love all the features.

Great Ride - 2005 Honda Pilot
By sfg - February 22 - 3:00 amThis is a great vehicle. Its reliable, comfortable and fun to drive. Im always confident in bad weather. Best of all it drives like a car but does the work of a truck, accommodating large loads, and lots of kids.

Pilot EX 2005 - 2005 Honda Pilot
By ND Doc - February 14 - 11:26 pmLeased it in Oct 2004. Reliable, good in North Dakota snow, has high ground clearence. I am more satisfied with the build quality of my 98 Honda Accord than this. Hear some rattles inside, wind noice pronounced. Excellent customer service at Fisher Honda.

Disappointing Fuel Economy - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Rosie - February 8 - 10:20 pmI like the car but do not love it. I am currently getting 16 miles a gallon/highway which I think it is pretty bad. Do not know where Honda got the mileage they advertise because I have been getting this mileage since I got the car brand new. I was planning to keep the car but not with this mileage. I might actually dump it early if gas price keeps going up at this rate.

Great SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Johnny - January 23 - 2:40 pmOnly a month into ownership, but so far a great vehicle. A smooth ride, decent handling (great in rain), great stereo and abundant storage and cup holders are all pluses. Also, the leather is of high quality (it actually smells like leather, not plastic). Its not perfect. It would be more convenient if both front windows had express up and down. Also, when the windows are turned off (to prevent children from operating), the driver also is prevented from operating the passenger windows. Finally, the three power points for cell phones, etc. are not powered when the car is turned off. Finally, the sunroof is not express open or close.
