Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • A great car overall - 2011 Honda Pilot

We have been very pleased so far with our new pilot. Only complaint is build quality, as I expect perfection when purchasing a new car. Two issues since purchase two months ago. Large gouge on interior door at delivery and now the paint is peeling off bumper. Dealer fixed door, but just noticed the paint problem.

Overall performance is very good. AWD is excellent in wet and snow covered roads. After installing a K & N air filter highway mileage is as high as 25 mpg. What I do not like is the quality. Chromed door handles started peeling at 50,000 miles. Exterior paint marks up easily. Many little things continue to go wrong. My next SUV will not be a Honda.

  • 2011 Pilot: A nice upgrade - 2011 Honda Pilot

Had this a month now (EX-L w/NAV) and am enjoying it. Yes, there are a lot of buttons on the dash, but you have a CD changer, iPod connection, XM satellite, & AM/FM radio, so I would expect that. Fortunately, these controls are easily worked with controls on the steering wheel! Built in Bluetooth is a nice feature as is the back-up camera mounted over the lic. plate. Leather seats are comfortable and the 8-way drivers side seat is also nice. There is an issue with the moonroof not closing automatically, but I dont mind holding the button for it to close until they have a fix for it. Gas mileage is not great thus far, but I didnt expect it to be the same as my CR-V. Overall, very happy.

  • Will be selling soon - 2007 Honda Pilot

I have owned this car for 3 months. I am disappointed in the gas mileage. The car has rattles all over the place that we cant pinpoint. Seats are not very comfortable for long trips. I noticed yesterday how many chips are showing up in the paint--just from normal driving conditions. I sold a Buick Rendezvous for this vehicle and I wish I had kept my Buick.

  • Love my honda - 2007 Honda Pilot

I have 4 children but didnt want a mini van. Looked at every SUV and decided on this one. The 3rd row can even fit my 62" teenager son..

  • Pilot engine is up roaring... - 2011 Honda Pilot
    By -

After driving my brand new Honda Pilot 2011 EX-L with DVD, I felt like the engine is up roaring when driving with speed < 60 mph. if I drive more than 60 mph then engine is kind of smoother. I havent noticed the noisy engine after driving ~ 3000 miles on it. Will bring back to dealer to check if there is any problem with the engine. And I hate to go back to the dealer since all I heard "work as expected" but it does NOT.

  • Honda Pilot Sunroof problem - 2011 Honda Pilot
    By -

After getting a lot of hassle from purchasing a Honda Pilot, the sunroof still does not work well. Dealer reset once and worked for a while now I got the same problem again: sunroof can not be closed all the way when it opened. Driving this Pilot for a month, too much noise, specially the road noise so terrible. I did a drive test again on Toyota Highlander and so much quiet. Gas mileage is not so good ~ 15 mpg in city, ~20 mpg on freeway. Well, thinking of trading this Pilot and get the Highlander. Wasted my money on his Honda.

  • Sorry I bought the pilot - 2011 Honda Pilot
    By -

I leased my Pilot in Pgh and immediately drove it home to Florida. I didnt even get 20 mpg even with eco mode in flat FL. The cruise control drives me crazy, constantly slowing down and speeding up, it varies from 2-3 miles below set speed to 2-3 miles above. Dealer says this is normal as well as the gas mileage. Ive never had a cars cruise do that. Trying to figure out how to get out of the lease.

  • Square looks, happy ride - 2011 Honda Pilot
    By -

This SUV delivers all we expected. The high square design allows for easy in and out. The wide wheel base and perfect crash tests gives us the secure feeling you will not get in a smaller car. On the highway we are already getting 23 mpg, within our first two thousand miles. We have read about problems with steering and moon roof but have had none of these problems. The SUV exterior could been designed with more modern style, but the rich and roomy interior more than make up for that. Overall for the money, Honda repair history and good trade in value, we are so far pleased.

  • Pulls to the right! - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

My mothers 2010 4wd pilot is great except it pulls to the right! Its been taken to the dealer 5 times and theyve said theres nothing wrong with it, they all do that, they were made to do that, its the crown in the road, it falls within specs so theres nothing they can do blah blah blah! Why on Earth do you want your car to pull either way? How will she know when its pulling due to there being something wrong? Sure the pilot looks great but how is it safe for your car to pull to the right? The dealership has yet to do anything to help my mother and now they are not returning her calls.
