Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Better than my RX350 - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I traded my 2015 RX350 for the 2016 Pilot EXL. The RX was loaded with every option available and the Pilot is stock but I would never trade back! The ride is far superior and the handling is perfect for me, it steers like an arrow. There is less road noise and vibration than the RX had and the seats are far more comfortable. The interior is spacious and attractive with plenty of cargo room. If I have to complain about anything its that the driver seat seems a little lacking in range of motion compared to the RX. in my opinion there should be just a little more forward tilt to the seat. I have to set the seat in a lower position than I like to compensate for the lack of tilt because if I sit higher the front edge of the seat presses hard into the back of my leg causing it to feel numb. Im getting used to sitting lower. I like the back up camera that comes as a standard option, again its better than the RX and the signal light rear view camera is also a great option, it makes changing lanes safer than just a shoulder check. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

  • Excellent buy - 2003 Honda Pilot

Bought it 12/27/2002 - it outperforms many sedans in driving on the curved roads (ramps, highway exits, etc.) During last winters snow storm on Presidents day I went to work and made it there without any difficulties - I almost fell down on ice when I went back to the car, but the car did not slip at all on the road. The acceleration is very good, ABS works fine if you need it.

  • Drive it - 2003 Honda Pilot

Best value and reliability for under $35k. Toyota was close, Liked the Montereo- but offered no value. Honda dealers are making deals. I paid $2100 under msrp. Drive it, like it, buy it.

  • Honda Hit the SUV 10++++ - 2003 Honda Pilot

Ive had numerous SUVs in the past from the too big Suburban to the midsize Pathfinder, the Pilot is the one for my family. Love this SUV. Ride is smooth comfortable, pleasure to drive. Most SUVs are a pain to park, not this baby, whips right in there. With 2 kids and summer travel DVD Please! Pack up the kids, CD case full of movies and you wont here a sound! Loads of cargo space for large trips to the store! Cannot express how much my family and I love this vehicle. My company even purchased one for mail runs and office errands! Honda, keep up the good work!

  • 2008 Honda Pilot - Expensive vehicle to maintain - 2008 Honda Pilot
    By -

I purchased the 2008 Honda Pilot new in Feb 2008. The driving noise is ridiculous as others have mentioned. Only get between 25000 to 30000 miles out of any type of tire. Car now has 150,000 miles on it and it has been maintained by Honda precisely as recommended. Spent over $3000 for large maintenance items in 2014 and now looking at over $4000 in repairs including stuts, bushings, rear main seal, main bearings and engine fan motor. Have had motor mounts repaired at least 3 times and have paid for several intermediate inspections (one in Dec 2015 & one in Jan 2016 because of excessive tire wear) that revealed nothing wrong with struts or bushing and now two months later they both need to be replaced and have ruined another set of tires. Hmmm...maybe its the dealers technicians at Clear Lake Honda in Houston? I have never had so many things go wrong on a car.

  • great value - 2003 Honda Pilot

The Honda is a very sophisticated vehicle compared to my 10 year old Explorer and to all of the other 4WD vehicles I drive while on the job. It is fast, smooth, and has plenty of room for me (63) and my stuff (bikes, plywood, skis, etc). The interior is well thought out, and the powertrain is exceptionally smoth. Handling is excellent at low speeds; could be a bit firmer on the 62 mountain curves on my commute.

  • Scotts thoughts - 2004 Honda Pilot

After 3 Nissan Pathfinders, I decided to make the switch, mainly due to my wifes Accord and its reliability. The Pilot is unequaled to any SUV I have traveled in or driven. Incredible ride, steering radius of a much small er vehicle, and simply a pleasure to drive......Great pickup too.

  • Perfect!! - 2004 Honda Pilot

This is the nicest SUV on the market. Perfect in every way. I paid $1900.00 under msrp. Dealers will deal on them.
