Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

We bought our Pilot EX w/leather, DVD in June 05 and immediately took it on a 5000 mile trip back East. Having the DVD kept 4 kids completely quiet. The Pilots shifting is unnoticeable. I saw the RPMs drop, but the vehicle did not jump when shifting. The passing power is perfect even in the mountains of Utah. The 2nd and 3rd rows recline slightly so passengers arent sitting straight up the entire trip. The 2nd row is able of adjust forward approximately 6" much like front seats allowing even more legroom for the 3rd row. I sit in the 3rd row and am quite comfortable being 58". I researched SUVs for 6 months and this beat the Highlander hands down. Im so happy with the Pilot

I have owned the vehicle for 5 months and have driven 3300 miles. The vehicle is very well designed, particularly the interior, which can haul much cargo or many people. The third seat can handle two adults, but three would be quite uncomfortable. The ride is excellent, with a good mix between cushy and firm. My biggest complaint is that the vehicle only gets 15 MPG around town and barely 20 on the Interstate, not the 17 and 23 advertised. At least it does run well on regular fuel, which saves 10% of cost. The vehicle does have some strange clunking sounds on occasions, and the dashboard creaks and rattles at times. Overall, I would rate it 8.5 on a scale of 10.

  • Buy it! You wont regret it - 2016 Honda Pilot

This is an amazing car. Exterior the rear LEDs are awesome. Front ones too. Great dynamic styling for an SUV I think. Interior the car is certainly solidly built. I love the shiny black trim. Amazing technology, and all of it works well. The only thing is the touch screen might be a little bit too sensitive, for me anyway. Drives like a BMW, or Mercedes...not kidding!!! It rides smooth, braking is amazing (may sound weird, but some brakes are better than others). Great handling as well!! As you can see, I love this car! Would not trade it for a X5 ever! Also, remember how great the safety is. The new Pilot beat the Toyota Highlander, Nissan Rogue, Ford Edge, and Mazda CX5 for safety. Buy it...you will not regret.

  • This is one amazing truck 2 Honda - 2009 Honda Pilot

I just picked up my new Pilot after researching all the SUVs. We have an Odyssey that has held up for the last 3 yrs without a problem, so decided to look at the new Pilot. I am glad I did as I was close to buying a Highlander. The technology and design of this truck were well thought out. The handling is solid, plenty of power to get going. Lots of Room for the kids and their stuff. Fuel economy so far hgwy was 23.3. The truck performs well,is very smooth. The turn radius is incredible. Buy this truck if you need room and luv tech toys.

  • Pleasantly Surprised - 2016 Honda Pilot

I own a 2016 Pilot Ex 2wd and absolutely love it! I am a former owner of a 2012 Acadia and it does not compare to my Honda. I have a family of 5 and theres enough space for us all even on long trips its comfortable. Touchscreen works great, I love being able to have my music played via Bluetooth from my phone. I have experienced FM will sound like static on the station I listen to but I havent let that bother me. Working at a dealership has helped me to distinguished sounds that are normal characteristics of the vehicle that others might think arent so normal. I was excited and awaited for the Pilot ever since I was told the new body style was coming. I love the way it looks, its sleek, roomy and I will never go back to a GMC!

  • I love my Pilot - 2005 Honda Pilot

My last 2 cars were hondas, a civic and most recently a CRV. I Loved both vehicles and decided to upgrade to the Pilot. Not only do I consider my comfort but I have one large dog and a medium size dog that travel with me everyday and they are every bit as happy as I am.

  • Poor Design for the Money - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

Before purchasing a 2010 Honda Pilot, I would urge a sense of caution!! I purchased mine in Aug 2009. Within 2 weeks I wished I hadnt. There is a terrible dash reflection on the drivers side window that if the sun is in the right position obliterates the side view mirror. To check the oil is just plain poor design. The access to the dipstick cable really is dismal. You cant even see the port to reinsert the "stick" so you need to have your fingers go directly to the port to guide the "stick" to assure that it goes in and avoids getting any outside grime into the oil. To get oil in the fill port-really poor. If youre on the road without a funnel youll get a 1/2 qt in for every qt.

  • Happy Owner of 04 Pilot - 2004 Honda Pilot

Just picked up a new pilot and have been very pleased in the short time Ive had it. I originally liked the looks of some competitors better but was sold on all the reviews. Therefore, I spruced it up with some options: Fender flares, chrome garnish, chrome wheels. I think it makes a lot of difference and am happier with it due to these items. FYI: The sticker was around $34.5K after the accessories but they dropped nearly $3K so I was out the door around $33K after T&T. From what I could tell, they made around $800. I doubt I could have done much better but who knows.
