Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • The Pilot works just fine!! - 2004 Honda Pilot

Got my new LX Christmas eve. Quality Honda product. Loads of room and very easy to fold seats down. Mileage is about 21 on the highway. Interior styling is spacious... has lots of console room with storage space. It does drive big but the Pilot is a big vehicle. The engine is very quiet.

Solid construction. Great standard feature set (ABS, Four wheel drive, 5 speed trans, leather, lots of cup holders, lights for everybody, 3 point seatbelts for everybody ...) Solid muscular look. 240 HP very powerful and responsive engine. tight drive. Decent fuel. A great 5 seater with the convenience of occasionally carrying 8 people.

Strong and sturdy ride, highly recommend it. I do hear some noise from the passenger door and I’m considering taking it to the dealer for them to check out. The radio is a little far from the driver to adjust, but you do have controls on the steering wheel.

  • Shocked by sleak size, handling, & Fuel Econ - 2016 Honda Pilot

I was compelled to review our Pilot after reading the Edmunds 778 mile outcomes. We have 2 small children, a teenager, and two working adults in our family. My husband, a full time student, drives the Pilot to and from class and for daycare pick up and drop off. We use the Pilot for long trips, regular visits to family 500 miles away. Our average fuel combined is MPG is 21.6 - our lifetime is 21.6. We get 28-29 on the highway. The test group for Edmunds obviously drive the car without any attempt to drive responsibly; sorry, but thats my thought. We use the Econ mode, but otherwise drive like reasonable adults with a car full of car seats, strollers, and family stuff.

Great SUV! Traded in a 2001 CL type S for the Pilot. Plenty of room, great ergonomics, fun to drive. Has plenty of storage areas, and the dash is easy on the eyes. Not cluttered like other cars. Would reccomend this car to anyone!

  • Great SUV for the price! - 2016 Honda Pilot

I have been driving mine for just over 2 months and absolutely love it. I owned a 2004 prior which was a very dependable and well built car so felt confident this would be the same. Its comfortable to drive, quiet, lots of storage and hauling space, looks good and worth every dollar. Drive and compare the competition and see what I mean.

  • Good overall SUV - 2003 Honda Pilot

Ive already put down the 2G for the MDX. When the Pilot came out and a friend working at a Honda dealership told me about a cancellation, I promptly snapped it up. I had a Chevy Blazer in the past and that was a nightmare. My wife and I took the Pilot up to Mackinac Island in Michigan over the Labor Day weekend. Its big enough that we didnt need to rent a motel. We got a campsite and didnt even pitch our tent. We simply folded down the seats and we got a queen-size bed. From Chicago, the trip is about 1000 miles (round trip) and we spent a less than $65 in gas. I guess we were averaging over 25 miles/gallon. Overall, I really like this vehicle.

  • customer loyalty? - 2003 Honda Pilot

Test drove and like it a lot. But, the dealers are simply too arrogant with pricing and not willing to find the vehicle I want. Charging $900 for Lojack and $3000+ for packages with paint sealer, wheel locks, mud flaps and cross bars? That is simply not a fair deal when I am someone that as bought 3 Hondas before. I may have bought my last. Too many other SUVs at better deals with same or better functions, etc. Will not buy a Pilot unless the Honda attitude changes. This exlpains why they are not in the top 10 with buying process satisfaction.

  • Top of the mid-size SUVs - 2006 Honda Pilot

Having owned my Pilot for about one month, no long term comments but so far I love it. My neighbors have BMWs and Lexus SUVs and the Pilot, at less cost, is (in my opinion) the better all around vehicle. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, controls are all appropriately placed, and ride & performance is commendable.
