This Year's Model Updates:

The 2005 Honda Pilot receives a new 255-hp engine, along with numerous functional changes. A tire-pressure monitoring system has been added, and EX models with leather get vehicle stability control. Slightly increased fuel capacity helps extend driving range, and a revised power steering pump provides improved on-center steering feel. Inside the cabin, the instrument panel has been tweaked with ambient lighting and a six-disc CD changer for all EX trims. A driver footrest has been added, and leather-upholstered EX models can now be had with a sunroof. The LX now has standard keyless entry, and all models get an integrated remote key and fob. Honda has made slight frame changes this year that resulted in improved IIHS crash test ratings.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.
Cons:
  • Mediocre towing capacity, side curtain airbags not available, feels big behind the wheel.

Car has fantastic pickup to the point I find myself frequently over the speed limit, yet handles more smoothly than most cars Ive driven.

  • Happy with my purchase - 2005 Honda Pilot

I just got my Pilot at around end of August. I really am happy with my purchase so far. The ride is quiet and smooth even on freeway. It also fits our needs. I like the fact that it is so versatile & roomy. For the most part, i love the improvements Honda has added to the 05 models. (i.e. EBD(electronic brake distribution), VSA(vehicle stability assistance), sunroof, more horsepower (15 horses more than previous models), TPMS(tire pressure monitoring system & lots more. I just think there is still room for improvements but other than that....EXCELLENT SUV!!!

  • Good SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot

Needed a big vehicle to transport son and hockey equipment. Rides well, comfortable, roomy. Not great mileage, but consider it weighs 4300 lb empty. Gearshift positions D, 3, 2, 1; needs a 4 so you can shift down from 5 to 4. Great antilocks; saved my bacon when someone abandoned a stolen car right in front of me on the highway. Good in snow, though we didnt get much the first winter I had it. Would like a stick shift, but that will never happen.

This vehicle puts the "sport" in SUV perfectly. Very fun to drive. Plenty of room, numerous safety features, a great design, and very practical. Add that with Hondas build quality, and the fact that Hondas hold their value so well, and you really cant go wrong. Cheaper than a 4-Runner, and better than the rest.

  • Best of Class!!! - 2005 Honda Pilot

No buyers remorse with this purchase! Amazing acceleration for such a heavy weight vehicle. Many complaints about mileage but what can you expect for 255HP with 4400lb. Great alternative to the true large scale SUVs for passenger and cargo capacity. I dont consider this an SUV as ride, suspension, wheels, etc are geared toward a car chassis. I kept my 4Runner, body on frame construction, for off-road ventures.

The Pilot has it all...plenty of room, solid handling and great reliability. It handles just as easily as a car so those who dont like the typical truck handling of an SUV have nothing to worry about. It has met all of my expectations.

  • Powerfull fun car! - 2005 Honda Pilot

This car is amazingly smooth. I bought mine new and it has never had problems. The ac went out once but thats about it! The 3.5 vtech v6 is very powerful and quite fun when you dig your foot down. Good acceleration off the line. Gets to 60 miles per hour from a dead stop in around 7 to 8 seconds. I live in denver and this car has no problem trudging around in the snow. The all wheel drive system works magically! I recommend this car to anyone looking for an suv thats reliable powerful and fun.

  • Great Packaging - 2005 Honda Pilot

This is my 3rd SUV and it rates high on the list. I had a 2002 Mountaineer with a V8 and have not owned another that is that powerful but Hondas V6 does move the truck smartly. Traded in a 2004 Nissan Murano for my Pilot. Although my wife misses her Nissan the Honda has FAR BETTER build quality and seats 8. Gas mileage is a combined 18-20 but you cant expect much more from a 4400lb SUV. Interior is kid friendly with the numerous cup holders and seatback and door holders. Only problem I seem to have is a ticking sound coming from both front windows. I will have that looked at when I bring it for my first service. I would definitely recommend one!!!!
