Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

Really like how the various controls are in good reach and seem easy to run. Roomy and well made, I like the little additions that make it comfortable. Only drawback seems to be space around the drivers seat...you lose something down the sides and its almost impossible to retreive.

  • Not the quality I expected - 2016 Honda Pilot

Very weird shifting/braking. At slow speeds, "phantom braking" causes sudden deceleration. Push start only works if Im pushing very hard on the brake. JUST INCREDIBLE to me that the car is not compatible with Apple CarPlay, a technology thats been around for years. Lack of integration makes everything clunky. Want your car to narrate incoming text messages for you? Dont buy a Pilot. Honda claiming its a hardware issue and cant retrofit, even though Accords have it. Boggling. Dash is glitchy - sometimes auto-dims at night, other times I have to open settings and manually dim it. Stupid detail, but that huge display screen tells me almost nothing. Listening to a song on the radio and want to know what it is? It will display 8-10 characters only, leaving half the screen blank. This car was not designed to thrill a driver. Vexing, yes. I would recommend people spend more time looking at the Highlander.

We purchased our new Pilot with safety in mind when our new baby girl came into the world. We also have been long time Honda owners are are quite impressed with the reliability and service we have received. Recently, while heading home from working all night my husband nodded off at the wheel and we rolled our new Pilot twice. I am thankful to be able to be here to record this review and give top notch praise to Honda for the construction of this vehicle. My husband and I walked away with only minor scratches.

  • Not for comfort - 2004 Honda Pilot

The seats are not comfortable at all! The Seat cushions and covers have two heavy gauge metal rods in the middle of the seat that run across the thigh. You can feel them by pressing your fist down on the stitch line in the middle of the seat. These metal rods cut leg circulation. The window lock feature locks out the driver from control of the windows thus making the feature nearly worthless. The game goes like this; the kids lower the window, you lock them out, then you try to raise their window but you are locked out too. Lastly, the cross bars whistle when properly installed. The Pilot is a great SUV that drops the ball on the one yard line.

Looking forward to another one when my lease is up. The only thing which may change my opinion is Hondas low factory warranty. I may take a look at the new Hummer H3 for kicks, but Honda has my business.

  • The Honda Elite is my XT5 - 2017 Honda Pilot
    By -

I love this vehicle! I have owned 12+/- Hondas, with all of which I have been very pleased. I was going to buy a Cadillac XT5, but then I saw the Pilot Elite. Wow! My past experience with Honda and the fact a comparably equipped XT5 would have cost me $15,000 more than the Elite, made my purchase a no-brainer. The ride, quietness, and safety features are superb!

  • A good mid-size SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot

Have owned the vehicle for 2 months. Overall, a very good value in terms of form, function, and economy. Have had no problems pulling 4300 lb. boat & trailer although I would not tow a heavy load over mountains.

  • Great Car for the Price - 2005 Honda Pilot
    By -

I purchased this vehicle under the asking price so I got a great deal. I love this vehicle. I do not miss anything by getting the LX model. The base model for the Pilot has everything I need and want in a car. We test drove other SUVs but nothing compares to this for the price and for all the standard options.
