Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

Its a "jack-of-all-trades" SUV. It does everything right with a low price. Quality materials and workmanship all around. Nice engine response. Not afraid to take corners at higher speeds. Great gas mileage compared to other SUVs.

I thought I was buying one of Hondas best, but found some issues afterward. The pull to the right should be addressed. This will eventually wear out your tires. Honda should fix this. Also, gas mileage is not what its advertised to be. Its a guzzler. Overall, I should have kept shopping. Well see. Some plastic pieces are already coming off in the door area on both sides. Vehicle only has 2100 miles on it. Trunk space is a problem with all seats up. Oh well...

Like my past Accords, everything is where it should be and makes sense. I trade an Acura MDX and the Pilot is every bit as comfortable and well appointed. Only disappointment was having to live with Good Year tires and not Michelins. Looking forward to many years of enjoyable driving and hauling. Total deal consumed around 5 hours from beginning to delivery - it should be far shorter but that is the car business.

  • LOVE this car! - 2006 Honda Pilot

We recently got the EX with navigation system to replace our station wagon. I am having such a great time with this car. The drive is smooth and the power is impressive. The interior space is great, with room for a family and all the stuff that goes with it. There are so many extra features that make the whole experience so much more than any car I have owned before. The rear-view camera that comes with the navigation system is wonderful with children, pets and toys in the driveway. The audio system is awesome and is equipped with satellite radio. Drive one and I think you will have to have one.

The Pilot rides well for a medium sized SUV. It has good pickup when entering a freeway, and feels more like an Accord than a truck. However, the vehicle requires more stopping distance than an Accord (the laws of physics rule).

  • Great so far - 2017 Honda Pilot

All models should have the blind spot monitoring system, not just a camera in the right side mirror. Everything is great so far. Maintaining 21 mpg around town. Ride is great. The 9 speed transmission does hunt at lower speeds but I use my cruise control and that stops some of the hunting. A lot of gadgets to distract you, so be disciplined while driving and use the voice command. Well build and very functional vehicle.

  • Nice Ride! - 2016 Honda Pilot

I love everything about the Honda Pilot and love the new design. Very good quality SUV. My only complaint is that the stereo system (FM & AM) radio reception is terrible. It constantly fades in and out and makes listening to your favorite songs annoying. So while I currently have a 3 month free membership to Sirius XM, I enjoy that. Sadly, if Honda doesnt do a recall on the antenna in the car, Ill end up being a lifetime member of Sirius XM which I had not planned. They dropped the ball on this one EASY thing.

Terrible radio, sounds like a 1980 car Low miles per gallon on Econ. Terrible customer service and resolution to problems, after 6 months STILL no solution on radio issue.
