Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Wonderful to Drive!! - 2003 Honda Pilot

Ive owned my pilot for a little more than a month now. I compared it to the Pathfinder, Highlander, Expedition, and Mountaineer. The Honda offered the best combination of size, looks, ride quality, and reliability. Most of all, it offered the best value. I actually purchased mine for $500 under sticker. I miss some of the bells and whistles from my Jeep Grand Cherokee (auto lights, auto-mirror, auto door-locks, memory seats, heated seats, awesome sound system), but the ride of the Honda more than makes up for it. I hope to love my Honda enough to be a life-long convert.

The Pilot is an SUV that thinks it is a car! The ride and feel are great. Actually , our Pilot rides better than our new Accord. It handles great and the gas mileage isnt too bad. The fit and quality is typical Honda- tight and quiet. We know as it is made on a line with Acura MDX. it has a fine engineering pedigree and demonstrates it in all aspects of automotive action. Ill probably buy it after the lease is up if it continues to offer the value it does now. The EXV-L is the best value because of the stability control this model adds to the package. If Honds smart they will make it a standard feature of all Pilots!!

Had a difficult time finding the color we wanted w/ the nav system. Settled on green. Dealers (all 4 of them) jerked us around on what they could get and the price. Other than that, the car feels safe, sturdy, and has handled WONDERFULLY in the mountains (10k ft+). Awsome acceleration either going up the mtn grades or passing on highways, and I was able to plow through 1 ft+ of snow to get to my driveway. Has not slipped or skidded on even the worst ice/snow covered roads. And the front seats are the best. No sore bum after 3-4 hrs of driving. Gas mileage is 17-18 average.

  • Engine Temperature problem/Faulty Radiators - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Hi All, I have brought this vehicle in Mar 2016 and not event completed 3-months. I had the following problems with vehicle. 1. After stopping while going forward- clunk or sound of something loses- weard sound. 2. My office commute is 5-miles/day- within 5-miles yesterday i got this alert Engine temperature hot 3. Acceleration raise automatically when you are stopping in signal. I called Honda care and going to the Dealer today and will update. Update from Honda Customer Care: I complaint on Friday 10 Jun 2016, however i havent received any response from them and their turn around time in 2-days. I got call on 14 Jun 2016 and its disconnected within 2-rings. I tried called daily 4-5 times and left voice messages no message/call back from them. I got a call on today 20 Jun 2016 after getting my car. Service Update: There was a faulty radiator fixed in my Car by the Honda company and this made mixing of coolant/transmission fluid. Now they told that replaced the radiator and some hoses in my car. I dont expect this after spending 50k in my car from the Honda Company. I hope this review will help you. Thanks,

  • Great Rig! - 2003 Honda Pilot

So far so good. No return trips to the dealer for problems after 1500 miles. I am happy with the driving experience and overall comfort of the Pilot. I would like a little better cornering feel - I think a bigger tirer/lower profile might be the way to go. Plenty of room in not too big package.

Ive been stuck in a big hail storm just 3 days after purchasing a pilot. For about 15-20 mins had to drive through it. There is no single ding or dent I could notice. Neither a scratch. My Honda Civic on the other hand was pummelled.
