Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

After shopping around, unlike what you used to do with a sales person, there was NO negotiating the price of buying this vehicle anywhere. However, technology certainly played a role in the purchase of this vehicle and Edmunds.com was a huge help in locating the best deal in Southern California. We love our SUV! Thank you!

  • GREAT SUV... BUY IT.!!! - 2004 Honda Pilot

My wife has had a Honda Civic for the last 5 years, I have had a Toyota Corolla for the last 10 years. So I was tempted to buy the 4Runner or Highlinder. We tested both of them, and I was convinced to buy the Toyota´s, but when we tested the Pilot, uff..the different was huge.. On the Pilot you feel the smooth and soft of the road.....it is bigger than the 4Runner, the 3rd. row is excellent. I recommend it to everyone...

Well my wife got her PILOT. OK 34K$ for a honda, but thats what she wanted. Sure its a nice well made SUV, but 34K$ It rides nice and soft, turns nice, breaks are OK, engine has a lack of low end, ok after you hit 25mph. Basicly a large 4x4 mini van. My new 2003 5.4 expedition gets the same mpg go figure.

  • Problems with my Pilot - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

I bought my Pilot for list price on July 20th and I am extremely disappointed. The front hood, side panels, and the front grid/bumper do not align properly and cannot be corrected. Passenger side door light cover was missing. Window trim was bent. Intermittent problem with acceleration (feels like its not getting gas at times) Rear AC vent fins broke. "Side air bag off" warning light flashes on and off at times and is scheduled for repair.

We have just purchase the Pilot this week. I owned a 96 Explorer. There is no comparision to the new Explorers. Pilot is light years ahead of anything in this price range. Fit/finish exceptional. Comfort handling all exceptional to everything we test drove. It is worth the wait on the dealers waiting list(2 monthes).

  • Nice Car for Trips - 2004 Honda Pilot

We bought this car to drive our growing family (grandchildren) and the three rows of seats do that very well. It has an excellent ride on the freeway, is very comfortable, and gets comparitively good gas mileage (25 mpg on highway). Pulls our camping trailer very nicely as well.

  • DO NOT BUY! - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

Do not buy one of these unless you want to spend A LOT of time at the dealerships service waiting room. Brakes sqeak, overheats, air will not work when its hotter than 80 degrees, seats uncomfortable, cd player eats cds. Nothing to reccomend
