Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • So far its awesome! - 2003 Honda Pilot

The Pilot rides like luxury; handling is good - reminds me of my old Acura Legend. Pulls our 17 pop-up camper (2600lbs) and family of 5 w/out a problem. Plenty of power and torque. Very roomy except for 3rd row, which is for small children. Paid $500 below MSRP in August 02.

  • Just Because its Honda - 2003 Honda Pilot

Just because its Honda made this SUV a bit overpriced. No doubt great ride and such ... but, a little bit more options should have come out as a standard feature because of its price.Good Luck to all of us 1st year buyers.I wish Honda would take into accounts our comments and give us a recall and reward current owners(only75k units) to make some features standard. Keeping my finger cross ...

  • A True Mid-Size SUV Has Finally Arrived! - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Weve looked at Tahoe, Expedition, Explorer, Highlander, 4Runner and Sequoia. We finally came across 03 Pilot at Huggins Honda in North Richland Hills, TX. Looking at Honda Pilot from the outside can be very deceiving; it was the INSIDE that got us hooked. The moment we realized it has a 3rd row seat, we immediately asked for a test drive. Pilots well- built 240-HP VTEC engine truly delivered. We bought our 2003 Pilot from the dealers show room with 10 miles on it! Though negotiation took longer than expected, we were extremely satisfied with the purchase. Huggins Honda staffs were nice and professional.

  • Incomplete Promises - 2009 Honda Pilot

Some of this is about purchase experience, but there are a few issues with the vehicle. Mileage - count on getting a full 1/3 less than promised. Driving as gently and efficiently as I can, I cant get over 12.4. Nimbleness - it has decent turn radius and good handling on the road, but is really over sized in parking, both getting into spaces and opening doors when parked. Stupid remote locking system - must unlock again to open hatch and cant click to lock if any door open. Maybe configurable, but havent figured out. Finally, watch out for Honda Leasing. Closed with $0.15 per excess mile on 3 year, then called back in to sign new contract at $0.20. Wouldnt have leased at that rate.

  • Great Value!!!! - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Shopped every possible SUV out there, Pilot wipes out them all for overall value & quality. I recommend this to anyone needing the functions of a minivan, but yet still want the fun SUV look & drive. This one can be bargained as well, got it for $1,600 under MSRP.

Bought the car last year for my newborn. Very reliable and comfy. I look forward to keeping it for a while. In typical Honda/Acura fashion, it has given me ZERO problems.

  • Pilot great SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot

This is a great SUV. We looked at Dodge, Land Rover, Jeep, etc... The Pilot beat them all in both looks at the in the overall features and performnace catagories.

  • Love new 2017 pilot elite - 2017 Honda Pilot

Absolutely love the car. No issues with the 9 speed transmission as mentioned in some comments/forums, shifts just as smooth as a Lexus. Very nice interior, impresses anyone who sees it. Wish it came with Michelin tires.
