Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Hmmmmmm, takes some getting used to. - 2016 Honda Pilot

So, I really like the ride, power, comfort and styling etc. The button controls are all fine but the MM electronic display is overly complicated and is at times senseless. I understand the issues of distracted driving and how manufacturers and laws are trying to mitigate this but...............not being able to enter an adress or use many Nav features while the car is in motion is absurd. One can use voice but this is not always practical. While it may not be a good idea for a diver to get to wrapped up entering an address underway why in the heck should they prevent a passenger from doing so. I mean it is a n 8 passenger vehicle not a 1 seater so it makes perfect sense to let someone access the Nav while driving. Another example is prohibiting any access to the sound controls for the audio. The only way you can adjust bass or treble, fade/balance is to put the car in park. Again, why the heck do they assume that only the driver is in the car with no passenger available to do these things. I have found the overall audion quality to be very poor and not what I expect at all. So there are some things that bug me for sure but with this said I love the vehicle as it is great in some many other ways.

  • Great Ride - 2004 Honda Pilot

Excellent Honda quality along with adequate gas milage for a vehicle of this size. Body roll in my vehicle is minimal compared to other SUVs driven, drives like a car. Very quiet on the road with some tire noise that is Goodyear problem not a Honda problem. Lots of cargo room with all seats down.

After 8 months the SUV is the best thing that could have happened to us. We had some problems with the tail gate but once it was fixed it has been perfect. Its big and spacious for my family of four and has so much space in the trunk for anything I could throw in it. Something my BMW X3 could never hold. Drives well with good pickup. The "infotainment system" needs work and I wish they didnt get rid of a physical volume knob. MPG is 21-22 with mostly highway driving.

  • Best SUV - 2003 Honda Pilot

Best family vehicle around. Quality, room, style, utility. 4WD is seamless, it handles great, even offroad (backwoods camping) Only complaint is the vents for the 2nd row are flimsy, And the leaky washer nozzle-driver side. Trailblazer/Pathfinder/Toyota/Ford beater

  • Now I love it - 2006 Honda Pilot

I traded in my 1999 Ford Expedition on the 2006 Pilot EX. My first day in the Pilot I suffered buyers remorse as it seemed so small compared to the Expedition. But by the 2nd day something happened. I feel in love with the Pilot. It is just so easy and fun to drive. You really do forget you are in a SUV because it handles beautifully. Its typical Honda in that its well made with subtle quality but there arent a lot of frills or bells & whistles. I wish there were automatic headlights, memory seats and a better radio. But for the important things its perfect. I can fit lots or kids or lots of stuff and thats exactly what I needs.

This Pilot (AWD with NAV) replaces my 2003 Infinti FX35. The FX was a great vehicle with three exceptions. Very poor seating, driver seat power buttons under your right leg, Extremely rough ride in rear seat when driving on anything other than a very smooth road, and very poor visibility due to rounded design. Honda, on the other hand has excellent visibility, plenty of glass area, plus third row seating, and runs on regular gas plus most of the options I had on the Infiniti for $14,000.less at sticker. After looking at big sister Acura, decided to stay with little sister, Honda Pilot. Plenty of Bang for the Buck!

  • Honda Navigation system is over the top! - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

When Hi technology meets reliability, only Honda seems to know how to do the trick. Navigation system is superb plus theres tons of standard features for a reasonable price, Leather interior very well appointed for a honda badged car. Plus great room in first two rows. Exterior can use a little front grille restyling .Its biggest flaw is no sunroof (what were you thinking?). Overall, this is a very versatile vehicle considering its size, that drives like a sport sedan, great suspension, definetly not a van like ride like somebody suggested.more than the average SUV and a lot of car for you buck.

  • Solid Value - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

Great resale and reliability=solid value.Very low cost to lease,if you are retired and drive minimal miles.Easy to enter and exit for those with disabilities. Amazingly good mileage for such a heavy all purpose vehicle and powerful drivetrain, probably due to its dead accurate 5 -speed automatic and smooth, unnoticed variable displacement engine. It even has a touch of luxury...

  • Honda SUV - 2004 Honda Pilot

Tested the Toyota Highlander and found the Pilot was more to the taste of what we were looking for. So far, so good but only have 10k miles on it. After 50k miles, then ask me. The light indicators on the center console are very dim to check if ingaged or not. Seating for eight---Id like to see the how three will fit in the rear otherwise a good choice.
