Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Great SUV for Everyday Use - 2003 Honda Pilot

Excellent vehicle with typical Honda fit, finish and reliability. Turning radius less than VW New Beetle. Very comfortable for road trips. Very good power and acceleration.

  • Best SUV - 2003 Honda Pilot

Have driven the Pilot for slightly over 1500 miles, every miles that passes. I say to my self this is the Best vehicle, I have ever own. The ride, the comfort and overall build quality is second to none. Honda has really exceeded themselves with this vehicle.

  • The hot Honda Pilot - 2003 Honda Pilot

The car is as good as expected for a Honda. The wait was well worth it. I look foward to riding in my Pilot every day.

Solid ride, although there is what appears to be rattle from the third seating head rest storage compartment at times.

I am having fun driving my shiny new and oh so comfortable honda pilot. last mothers day, my life changed. my son got me my first honda! Hes the best son in the world to give me the greatest car ever! The best part is the comfort. i forget about that arthritis when i climb into my high seat and have all the room i need. when im inside my dream car i suddenly feel real good. it gives me that extra feeling that only having this car can give. thank you for making me happy.

  • Good Deal - 2003 Honda Pilot

Moved up from a 1997 CR-V; Good ride with comfortable seating and good visibility; plenty of power; decent fuel economy; Fair amount of road noise. Expect to last longer than American counterparts.

  • Large Interior and Fits in Garage - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Love this SUV. I wanted an 8 passenger vehicle and the interior is much larger than it looks from the outside. This fits in my small garage (unlike the large domestic tanks). Interior is very flexible, spacious and comfortable. All controls are in the right place. I have several friends that have bought a Pilot after seeing mine.

  • Off to a very good start - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

After one week its a very good car. Economy is good as SUVs go, but too bad its not even better. The cylinder shutdown feature works as advertised, and doesnt really interfere with driving. Ergonomics in the driving position are excellent. The electronics are really good, and the sensors help with maneuvering at low speeds. Room is very good in back (why we bought it in the first place).

  • Quality SUV - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

Purchased an 06 with leather and Nav late October. So far very pleased with the purchase. It is quiet, responsive, looks good, and gets good mileage considering its an SUV. Decided to go with the 06 instead of an 05 leftover due to added safety features, appearance, and better gas mileage with the 2 WD. Nav system is cool and works well. Can talk to it but it sometimes does not always understand correctly. Got a good price. Could not see buying a Ford and see it devalue like a rock and eat gas like a hog. Has many of the same components as the Acura MDX.

  • I feel Elite in my Elite! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I was looking for a great combination of space, high-end amenities (e.g. ventilated seats, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist etc), comfort as well as something I can take hunting and does well in the snow. The closest thing I could find to the Elite is the new Volvo XC90 which is over $20k more once you add all the same features. I have had a 2004 and a 2008 Pilot so I guess Im predisposed to the Honda but I looked at nearly everything from $30k-$90k and this is by far the best value. From what Im hearing from dealers is that this car is rare - three different dealers tol me that they will get 1 Elite trim every 2-3 months so get your order in early! Its early yet but we are getting 31mpg in mixed driving.
