Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

We have had the Pilot for a little over a year and have taken it twice to Yellowstone, and once to Glacier and the Tetons. The ride is very comfortable, the interior is very well designed, and the steering and handling is very good. The engine power is good and works well with the 5 speed transmission. The gas mileage is very good for a SUV - we got 21-23 MPG on the road and about 17 in the city. I would recommend it to anyone.

Im very, very happy with my Honda Pilot. I looked at every SUV on the market to find a medium-sized SUV with a third row of seats. I also had to have leather interior and the DVD entertainment system. All of which I got without a spending 40,000+! Great gas mileage was a big bounus!!

Had a 2001 Yukon and loved it. This Pilot is a better built vehicle than the Yukon. Better mileage and same comfort. I am 66".

The Pilot has been an excellent car for our family of 8! It handles great through the snow and ice of Michigans Upper Peninsula roads. It is very quiet, and very reliable. The gas mileable is also acceptable (especially compared with other SUVs). The price and reliability of the Pilot made it a real winner for us. The only downside: the rear spoiler was not designed well, as the plastic warps in the sunlight.

I love my Pilot and would buy another in a heartbeat. The dealership has bent over backwards to make sure that we are happy. I owned the Pilot for a week and made a 800 mile trip in 2 days, and still enjoyed driving it!

The feature I enjoy the most about my Pilot is its cross between a SUV and a minivan. It is very kid friendly, yet sporty looking. The rear seats folding down makes them always accessible when away from home and simple for anyone to pull up. The engine runs quiet and has quick acceleration. This is my first experience with Honda, and I am very pleased.

  • Love this car...test drive to see - 2003 Honda Pilot

Its one of the best purchase decisions we have made in a car in years. Its such a good ride and doesnt feel like a typical SUV. We noticed the positive difference between the Pilot and other popular SUVS seconds into the test drive. Trust me, if you are considering a SUV, make sure you compare the ride and feel of the Pilot vs. Ford, Chevy and other popular models.

This car is new on the market, hard to get and I havent seen one on the Honda lots since June. This vehicle rides better than the Chevy, Ford, and Toyotas we drove before purchasing the pilot. This vehicle will most likely hold its value like other Honda vehicles.
