Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • clunking on front wheel - 2016 Honda Pilot

We bought the vehicle almost a year ago and about 2k miles into owning starting getting a knocking sound when reversing. Took to Honda multiple times and no issues found. Took it in today mind you vehicle has 12k miles. Now they are saying brake pads are moving back and forth and thats what the sound is. I asked them to fix and they said there is no fix its not mechanical issue either so wont be covered. Not very happy with it since you buy Honda for reliability and I understand no one is perfect but to not fix the issue is pretty upsetting.

Wasnt expecting my Pilot til mid October, but it arrived 10-3. Just in time for the Honda 3.9% APR, too! I reviewed this ride and compared with others in its competition and the Pilot was a winner everytime.

  • Jerky ride - 2005 Honda Pilot

Just purchased my Honda and the one problem that is major for me besides not getting the gas mileage it shows on its sticker, is how jerky it is when the motor/engine shifts gears up & down. Feels like you are driving it incorrectly. Was told all SUVs shift like that but I had owned one from another make prior to the Pilot and it was not that way.

  • Gotta love those hondas - 2004 Honda Pilot

Only had my Pilot for two months, but love every day of it so far. Very roomy interior. Front seats feels very comfortable and roomy, never get the feeling of being cramp even with two kids in the second row. Gas milage is what you should expect from a SUV, but it does better than most competetors of this class. Fit and finish is very nice and solid. Wish there was a remote hatch opener. The front head rest are not adjustable and they are not in the right position to rest you head comfortabely. I find the ignition switch for the key to be very awkward, I had the car for two months and I still need to look for the opening to insert the ignition key.

  • Pilot on top!! - 2016 Honda Pilot

We are currently leasing a Pilot. This SUV is a great vehicle. The interior space is so big and the ride is so comfortable. Great for family trips as this seats 8 comfortably. A little pricey but worth every single cent. Really glad we went with Honda as our make.

  • Nice but not perfect - 2003 Honda Pilot

Nice vehicle. Comfortable, handles well, fair performance, terrible gas mileage so far(12-13), ok Stereo. Most things are what I expected. Engine is smooth, but not great performance. Stereo looks good on paper, only fair in real life. 2nd row seats should be adjustable. Just hit 1000 miles. As long as it stays reliable, and gas mileage improves, I will be happy.

We looked at all the midsize and some of the big SUVs and came very close to purchasing the Toyota Sequoia last Spring but saw a review on the Pilot and decided to drive it once just to see. We were blown away by just about everything about the Pilot. Essentially an MDX with a much better price. Eventhough we had to wait 4 months to get it after ordering, it has been everything we could have wanted in an SUV and is such a huge step up from the Dogde Grand Caravan we had for 6 years. Mileage has been decent and the comfort and roominess inside are terrific. My wife loves this SUV!
