Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Good Deal, but marginal gas mileage - 2009 Honda Pilot

I enjoy the versatility of the Honda Pilot with its 3rd row seat as we have four children. Ride is comfortable and the integrated MP3 for my iPod is incredible. The navigation system is average.

Being retired we travel alot. The Honda Pilot was a great fit for our needs. Good ride, reliable, and plenty of room. We take kayaks, bicycles, and camping gear. The third seat is great for grandkids and a third couple for short trips. We love our Honda Pilot BUT wish the gas milage was better.

This vehicle is an incredible value. We test drove other vehicles in this $$ class that didnt have the overall balance of power, ride and handling quality of the Pilot. I checked out Fords Explorer and Freestyle, Toyota Highlander and Nissan Pathfinder. All were good cars but just couldnt hit that home run I was looking for.

  • BEST SUV AVAILABLE - END OF STORY - 2003 Honda Pilot

Best SUV that I have ever driven. Used to own a 99 Grand Cherokee and fiance drives a 2001 Durango. There is no comparison. Handles like a car, extremely quiet and smooth. Been getting about 18 city and 22 highway....MUCH better than other SUVs.

  • Near Perfect - 2003 Honda Pilot

The Pilot is the best vehicle weve ever owned. A great highway cruiser and city commuter. The Pilot is our first SUV and won our vote over the Explorer, Exped, Highlander, Sequoia, Envoy, Yukon, Durango, T&C 4WD and Montero. After 3000 miles, we have recovered from the thought of paying sticker and not taking advantage of a 0%/60 mo deal. The Pilot has many strengths that help explain why our recent 1000 mile trip with 3 kids was the most painfree trip weve ever had. Our only negative experience is the daily coin flip we must face for driving rights to the Pilot. Definitely put the Pilot on your "must drive" list prior to buying your next SUV.

Wonderfully crafted. Perfect interior. As quiet as my BMW 540. The visibility is incredible. The multi adjustable power seat accomodates everyone. Nice low end power available for highway passing.

  • 2012 Honda Pilot 1 month Ownership Review - 2012 Honda Pilot
    By -

This vehicle has to be one of the most practical vehicles made today. While some midsized SUVs like the Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer may have comparable or even more cargo space on paper, the Pilot uses the space much better. A full 4x8 sheet of plywood can lay flat in the Pilot when all back seats are folded down. All the other midsized SUVs have wheel wells that limit the cargo width. The designers have really thought out the interior well. There are cargo areas all over the place. There are tie-down hooks scattered around the cabin. The rear window opens separate from the hatch, which comes in handy from time to time. If you are looking for a family hauler that is packed full of practicality, just the right amount of technology, decent towing capacity STANDARD, and ability to get through the snow and mud, you should definitely consider this vehicle.

  • Best SUV for Family - 2006 Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot is the best all around SUV for the average family. Decent fuel economy, good performance, nice features, terrific handling, and Honda Quality at an affordable price.

have had this for only two months and the gas mileage has been no better than 15 mpg. we lease and i called to see if we bought another honda vehicle would they consider to get us out of lease. response was it would cost us at least 3000 dollars to get out of lease. very disappointed with all parties concerned.we had a buick rendezvous and were much happier. should have stayed with buick.
