Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  There are better values for price and standard equipment if you do not need a vehicle as big as the Pilot.

  never had a honda before - now its all we want!! fits our three children (and many friends) wonderfully - fits more than our previous minivan. has 8 shoulder belts - very safe. the dvd system with wireless headphones is such a godsend on long trips.

  Check out the Piloteers web site to see the problems with this car. It overestimates the MPG for some reason. The touch screen is a joke. The FM reception is horrible and Honda wont fix it. Most dealers deny it is a problem!! Not worth the money.

  We test drove a lot of SUVs, but couldnt find the right one until we drove the Pilot. We were looking for an SUV that drove more like a car than a truck, had good power, 4WD capability, and versatility between cargo space and seating. The Pilot is exactly what we were looking for.

  I have owned Hondas all my life. This is my 5th Honda, and it will be my last. Words cannot describe how frustrated and disappointed I am with this vehicle. I test drove the lower level version and thought it was great, but it was a huge mistake to upgrade to the Touring. That infotainment system is a joke. Ive almost gotten in accidents just trying to use it. Attempting to control the music/volume is a nightmare. Oh, and when were using maps the passenger has absolutely no control over the music. The 9-speed transmission is terrible. I feel like my neck hurts after driving because all of the jerking around. I am constantly fighting with this car to be in control. God forbid I have to do something quickly, like get around a stopped car with traffic coming, because the car doesnt react quickly to my foot. I despise this car, and we have it for sale, though no doubt will lose a ton of money on it. Im so glad were not the only ones having issues. We have registered the complaint with Honda Motor, and have brought it back to dealership a few times, but they are mostly dismissive of our concerns.

  We purchased the Elite trim to have the best of Hondas safety technology. Our guests will enjoy the panoramic sun roof, but I dont anticipate the video ever being used. Wish that the engine shut off at stop lights could be disabled. Great, comfortable ride, we look forward to roadtripping, soon!
