Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • All That I Expected - 2003 Honda Pilot

This is my first SUV and I dont think Ill ever go back to a regular sedan after being spoiled by being able to see so much better from the higher vantage point. I wanted an SUV that rode and drove like a sedan and had a high degree of reliability and safety. Resale value is also important to me, as well as decent gas mileage. The Honda Pilot delivers on every point and my wife and I both love it.

  • touch screen sucks - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

The touch screen is bad. Would be better to have a dial to change channels. The rear climate control doesnt work all the time. Sometimes it is blowing hot air when the front is blowing cool air. Easy to scratch the paint when putting items in the back of the pilot. Overall, I like it, but have a couple concerns. A lot quieter than my previous pilot. Rides good.

  • 2016 Pilot Elite - great cars, two improvements - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Bought 2016 Pilot Elite. Pros: lots of cupholders (that are lit up), lane keep assistance, automatic cruise control. Major selling point: one touch 2nd row in/out (no other manufacturer has this for 3 row SUVs) and spacious 3rd row. Cons/improvements: right turn camera does not exist (in the touring model, there is a camera on the right side mirror that shows on the display when you turn so you can see the blind spot) in the Elite there is a sound indicator but no camera (one would think for the next model up, it would have been included), backup camera only (no 360 view camera) with all the "cameras" and detection in the car one would assume a 360 surround view camera, DVD play works great but one has to use the remote in the back seat - no menu options from front console (have a heck of a time turning on subtitles, hitting the play button, skipping chapters, and theres no memory play) one has to pull the car over and set the dvd to the correct setting before driving or one has screaming kids. (Note: use case is 3 kids, husband and dog)

After owning 3 Ford Explorers I was ready to leave the SUV world, however now that I own the Pilot I could not be more pleased. It is roomier, my wife is pleased with the ride as we often take long trips. She felt that the Explorer was too much like a truck. Unfortunately I am not pleased with the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. A poor service department and despite promises to the contrary no follow through from management.

  • Love my AWD Pilot in the snow! - 2017 Honda Pilot
    By -

I really like the design of the 2017 Honda pilot. Its attractive on the outside, comfortable on the inside. A few concerns though. The rear seats could be a little more comfortable but at least they are not used every day. It also seems like the heat takes a while to really kick in which was not what I was expecting for a brand-new vehicle but perhaps because its a large space it takes a while. Also the Bluetooth has not consistently worked. Overall a five star car though, great in snow and ice and very good gas mileage for this type of vehicle.

Great car. Lots of room for our 2 kids and plenty left over for "stuff" in the back.

  • Great Truck - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Paid right at MSRP with a lot of haggling between 3 dealerships on the last day of the month. Love the truck. Love the room. I didnt need the towing ability, I just needed the space. Rides great, is quiet and handles just fine. Hwy and city driving is very comfortable. Quality craftmanship. Even the plastics dont appear to be cheap.

  • Another satisfied buyer - 2003 Honda Pilot

Have had the Pilot for 2 weeks. MSRP plus $500 (great deal for Hawaii!!) Great ride. Great comfort. Great looks. Great sound (DVD and music.) For those that complain about a non-sporty feel, go pay $8k more for an MDX or $18k more for a BMW. Sound vehicle. Decent gas milage (18.25 for first tank.)
