Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

I do have one complaint. I have taken this to the dealer for excessive vibrations within the vehicle while driving and all windows are down. It is so excessive it bothers my ears. The dealer says this is normal and nothing can be done.

The Honda Pilot is awesome. The third row seat is the best in the class for comfort and room. We have the Touring version so it only comes with the push button shifter. It works okay but the regular gear shift would have been easier to use. The only other minor complaint is that the engine stops every time that you stop and it is very annoying. You have to remember to turn it off every time you start the vehicle. If you could set that one time and not have to remember to do it every time that would be great. It enhances the mileage but it feels like it has a miss. Oh well, I just have to remember to reset it every time.

What a great alternative to the mini- van and Suburban! Just got back from a family fly fishing trip to Montana and the Pilot performed flawlessly. We got 22-23 MPG, just like were supposed to. It drives like a car, great turning radius, quiet, and stable. The V6 accelerates well, even at freeway speeds. We got aftermarket leather - better quality and it cost us less. We also got aftermarket DVD player and flipdown monitor and saved about $1,000 for a bigger screen and better unit.

Be aware if you plan on purchasing this car. You will be forced to buy options at a very highly inflated rate (running boards 1k, fog lights $800, bumper garnish $900). I went into 3 dealerships and none of them would move an inch off the msrp. In fact, msrp was untouchable plus they make you purchase 2 or three options and by the time youre done haggling, you will most likely pay $35-36k if youre lucky. Other than that, the car itself is a nice ride overall. The only gripe is that the car is so plain looking.

It took a while but Honda really got it right with the Pilot. Forget about Explorer and Trail Blazer, this Honda SUV has got the right stuff and the quality missing in Ford or Chevy.

My family of four took delivery of our new Pilot on June 10 and weve put about 600 miles on it since. We had looked seriously at the Acura MDX and decided for the price of a used MDX we could get a new Pilot. The Pilot feels very similar to the MDX. I recently had to do some serious and quick steering to avoid a sports car that was trying to share the lane with me and I was very pleased with the Pilots response. Fit and finish is quite good. There is plenty of room in the front for my 6.4 foot friend. Middle seats roomy as well. Its nimble around town. This is great alternative to minivans and huge SUVs.

upgraded from a Taurus wagon - love the fit and feel. great pick-up on acceleration, steering and road handling is very stable. Steering is a bit light (not much to turn this beast!) love the flxible interior - oh and by the way - better fuel economy than the ford!

  • Worth the money!!! - 2014 Honda Pilot

Bought a 2014 pilot and have been happy with it so far. Took it for a road trip (1K miles) and the ride has been wonderful. My kids enjoyed the space at the 2nd row seat. Controls are easy to understand. Only downside I would write is the squeaking noise on the front doors and looks like I am not the only one having this problem reading thru various blogs.
