Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Smooth flying with my Pilot! - 2003 Honda Pilot

We ABSOLUTELY LOVE our Honda Pilot. We replaced a 2000 Chrysler T & C and I couldnt be happier with the decision. The Pilot has a very solid, comfortable ride that is very carlike and it handles very smoothly. It feels very safe and solid. We have 3 kids under the age of 5 and the DVD system is a godsend. We havent had any problems whatsoever in the first year of ownership. It seems to have superior reliability. There are a few improvements I would like to see in future models, but overall, the Pilot is tops. And the gas mileage is surprisingly good for an SUV and the engine has great power. Thank you Honda for such a great family vehicle.

  • Quality Head to Toe - 2004 Honda Pilot

This screams top quality. From head to toe you notice the spit and polish put into this vehicle. From the higher set roof for headroom and large windows all throughout for greater visiblity, to the incredible cornering and turning. This is a mini-van replacer for sure. Do yourself a favor and test drive this vehicle, youll thank me later. :-)

  • 2016 EX 2 months review - 2016 Honda Pilot

Purchase for wife who drove 2012 MDX. This is better and less $. Wife loves the how the middle seat slides forward to let the grandkids into the 3rd seat. Bought used with 4K miles for $34K. Fastest car Ive ever owned. Electronics are quirky. Radio display drops channels and then they reappear later on the screen. Overall quality seems great. Great ride and easy to drive. Love the 2016 styling. Would recommend.

  • Poor Quality - 2017 Honda Pilot

This is our 4th New SUV in 13 years. This is the first one I have ever had to take to the dealer with a problem before 70,000 mile. This car developed a clunk in the front drive train or suspension at about 3000 miles. Of course the service department can find nothing wrong with it. Honda is behind its competitors when it comes to interior design. Less leg room in the front driving compartment, controls are dated, other companies have lessen to their focus groups. I think Honda miss the boat here. Blind spot camara is useless, who looks at their center screen when changing lanes. Really missed the boat here when comparing them to there competitors. To many bad interior design features to mention.

Ive driven Hondas for 23 years and my 2004 Pilot may be the best vehicle Ive ever driven. It has lots of power, a very smooth transmission, and gives a quiet ride (not true with a lot of Hondas). Its first task was a 5,000 mile trip to the Rockies and back. It supplied both power and handling on all kinds of mountain roads, including a short trip off-road. The DVD entertainment system and back seat configuration kept the kids happy. I would recommend a Pilot to anyone looking for a reliable SUV.

  • Cold Starts...Not so Good. - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

I live in So Cal and park my Pilot in the driveway. If its a cold night it wont always start the next morning The engine will crank but wont turn over on the first try. It will start on the second attempt. Honda service states that this is normal for a lot of new cars today...yeah right! He gave me various reasons why he thinks this is happening, though Im pretty sure he doesnt really know. He stated that all the Pilots on his lot were tested and all had delayed starts. This is not "normal" behavior for a car with 2000 miles on it. This is my third Honda...and if Honda doesnt make this right, it will be my last.

  • Awesome SUV - 2003 Honda Pilot

I have owned 5 different SUVs, 4Runner, Pathfinder, Jimmy, Mercedes and Lincoln. This SUV, the Pilot beats them all, hands-down. Superior handling, ride, comfort, responsiveness, and fun.
