Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • My first SUV and love it. - 2003 Honda Pilot

This is my first SUV and Im still driving my 92 Honda Prelude. Although there is no comparison with Prelude, the Pilot handling and power is awsome. Ive driven my Pilot to Mexico/San Diego, San Francisco bay area and Las Vegas and it never complained even with the full load to Mexico.

  • Blower - 2007 Honda Pilot

There is only one area im not having fun with, which is the blower. When I have the blower Off, - I can still feel air blowing on me - I hoped I can change to have the blower blow only on the window but that is not an option the defogger/window blower also blows with face or foot. This is very uncomforatble - I wish newer version would have this as an option - i.e no blow when off or blower to window only and and not combined with face or foot

I realy didnt like my dealer, since they pushed on me a Pilot with colors that i didnt like. but the vehicle itself is nice. im single with no kids, but wanted an SUV with much needed space. im also a fan of the HONDA brand.

  • Solid family car for when a minivan wont do - 2017 Honda Pilot
    By -

With my growing family and constant trips to a mountain cabin, we needed more space that we had in our old Forester, but couldnt give up solid AWD and high clearance to make it. The Pilot does this well--good power, clearance, and traction, with a ton of room. Its a larger vehicle, though, so if you put things on your roof, youll need to be tall or carry a step stool, since there are not good external steps. Im not a fan of the roof rails for attachments, as it means I cant reuse my older Thule setup. Finally, Im not crazy with the entertainment system--it can be easy to get lost in different contexts. For example, switching from listening to the radio to Spotify is a multistep process that can take some getting used to.

  • A Real Pleasure to Drive - 2003 Honda Pilot

I realized that the Pilot drove more like a Honda (car) than a truck. I was aware of the convenient placement of the gauges, and the audio, heating and cooling controls. The interior of the Pilot was - well thought out, well constructed and pleasing to the eye. The configuration of the seats and the ease of converting the rear ones to allow for more space is a definite plus. The V-6 engine does its job well on the open road Overall my Pilot has lived up to my highest expectations.

  • ITS TIME TO OWN THE HONDA PILOT! - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

I bought my Honda Pilot in Portland on the 10th of June.I have drove about 800 miles with it since;from Portland to Crater Lake and back.I have been impressed with this vehicle alot.It runs as smooth, and quite as any other vehicle on the road,it also has lots and lots of room.It has so much room that when I fold the second and third rows down I can fit about 4 mountain bikes in the back and other stuff such as luggage. It has lots of room in the front. The Pilot has lots of lighting inside to use to look at Maps at night. The bottom line is you wont find a better priced and equiped vehicle than this!!

  • Happy with my purchase - 2005 Honda Pilot
    By -

I just got my Pilot at around end of August. I really am happy with my purchase so far. The ride is quiet and smooth even on freeway. It also fits our needs. I like the fact that it is so versatile & roomy. For the most part, i love the improvements Honda has added to the 05 models. (i.e. EBD(electronic brake distribution), VSA(vehicle stability assistance), sunroof, more horsepower (15 horses more than previous models), TPMS(tire pressure monitoring system & lots more. I just think there is still room for improvements but other than that....EXCELLENT SUV!!!

  • 2006 Pilot LX 2WD - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

Owned 5 Hondas before this and have always been very satisfied. Drove other similar priced SUVs and the Pilot was the best deal. I have 1400 miles and have been having a loud humming at 35 to 55 mph (comes and goes) since 200 miles. Dealer had no fix until now and is saying they have a temporary fix which is to disconnect the noise cancellation. Others saying they have been down this road with no luck. Either get the 4WD or roll the dice on getting the problem.

  • Good SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
    By -

Needed a big vehicle to transport son and hockey equipment. Rides well, comfortable, roomy. Not great mileage, but consider it weighs 4300 lb empty. Gearshift positions D, 3, 2, 1; needs a 4 so you can shift down from 5 to 4. Great antilocks; saved my bacon when someone abandoned a stolen car right in front of me on the highway. Good in snow, though we didnt get much the first winter I had it. Would like a stick shift, but that will never happen.
