Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • The BEST SUV for the EVERYDAY GUY - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Had it for about 2 months now 2000 miles - no complaints. smooth engine and interior quality is good. Checked out Trailblazer and Explorer (Those 2 cant beat this SUV in any category) The styling was bland in the beginning but it is growing on me. I love the 8 passenger feature (although rear is more for 7) and lots of cargo room. Drives like my acura 3.2 TL -smooth.

  • Honda Hits a Homerun! - 2003 Honda Pilot

Believe it or not, I traded in my 201 Mercedes C320 for the Pilot. We needed a bigger car for our expanding family and when we learned about the Pilot our search ended. My wife and I cant get enough of this SUV. It is excellent. The gas mileage we got on a trip to Illinois was 25mpg ! It rides like a car and is VERY comfortable! A great buy!

Great vehicle - never thought I would like driving an SUV, but with typical Honda design, it is a pleasure to drive. It has a very smooth ride and handles just like my Honda Accord. Interior layout is excellent.

  • New Pilot _ No Dealing - 2003 Honda Pilot

Looked at Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. Went to four dealerships. All when questioned about dealing, they all pointed to the "Sticker" and that was that. The Honda had the additional third row seat that sold us on it. Plus we went to resale values on Chevy Trailblazer, Buick Redevous, and GMC Envoy. All were considerably less than Honda and Toyota. Also, a big selling point was that it is front wheel drive.

  • Great family S.U.V. - 2005 Honda Pilot
    By -

This S.U.V. is bigger than it looks. The seats are very supportive and comfortable. The rear fold down seat is very handy. When the rear seat is in use, I found it to have as much leg and head room as our 2003 Toyota Siennas rear seat. It has good acceleration for a v-6. Surprisingly it handles like a car. The Toyota Sequoia is a great car and probably looks a little better but the Pilot has a fold down seat which the Sequoia does not and there is not much difference in interior space.

  • Pilot saved my husbands life! - 2013 Honda Pilot
    By -

We bought our 2013 Honda Pilot Touring on a Wednesday, picked it up on a Thursday and it was totaled by Saturday by a reckless driver. My husband was alone at a red light when he was hit and pushed into a building. He survived with stiches to the eye, a broken toe & some bumps and bruises. not sure he wouldve been so lucky in another vehicle. we bought another 2013 Honda Pilot Touring the next Monday from the same people/place. Amine & Joseph at Boch Honda in Norwood Ma were great through both processes.

  • The Pilot was the right choice - 2003 Honda Pilot

I was leaning towards the Toyota Highlander until my friend strongly urged me to take his Pilot out for few hours. I was sold on it and got one the next day for $1,000 under MSRP. Dealership was fantastic (Autofair in Manchester, NH). This is a fantastic vehicle. Smooth, quiet, powerful and a TON of room. It is very well thought out. This is my second car in 9 years. My other was a Honda with 112k miles and zero problems, so I know about Honda reliability first hand. I am completely happy with the decision to purchase it.

  • First and last Honda - 2017 Honda Pilot
    By -

It is apparent that Honda is living in the shadow of their reputation from the 90s and 2000s. We just purchased a fully loaded EX-L because of the bad reviews of the touring and elite having the 9 speed transmission. The suv had only 8 thousand miles, and was purchased from a very reputable dealer. After driving it for a few days, my wife noticed moisture in the front passenger floorboard. When I checked out the vehicle, the entire floorboard (All 4 doors)was completely saturated with water. The next thing we noticed was that the front passenger seatbelt was covered with mold. We took the vehicle to the Honda dealer to get it fixed. I called the service department after 24 hours to see what was going on. The service advisor said it was ready to go. I said wait, what was the issue? He said someone must have hit the button on the remote and made the windows go down in the rain. I told him that was impossible, because we would have seen water on the seats, door panels, and everywhere else. So they kept the car for a few more days and said they found some seepage on the top rail molding and put some filler in it. He said it was finished and ready to go. I said what about the mold on the seatbelt? He said they cleaned it off, and they would not replace it. I said I was in the mold remediation business for many years, and you cannot just clean mold from porous surfaces. So he said he would talk to his boss. I got a call later from the advisor saying he has never lied to his customers and he wasnt going to start. He said they found a significant amount of water inside the seatbelt retractor.and they were getting an engineer to take the vehicle to a rain machine to do tests, and he didnt know when we would get it back. So a few more days later they found some bad welds or seams under the vehicle, and said they repaired it and ordered new carpet. I ask what about the moldy seatbelt. They refused to replace the seatbelt, so I let him know that we were not going to take the vehicle back. We have a baby, and she would not be riding in a vehicle that we paid $35k for, and has mold and bad welds. We decided to try out a touring pilot since there were no others to choose from. As soon as we checked the carpet on the 2017 touring, it was soaked on the passenger side. That was the end of Honda for us. We traded for a 2017 Toyota Highlander and are very happy we are through with Hondas.
