Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Hard to find - 2003 Honda Pilot

Wife and I tested in native Pa. fall of 2002 and liked but not ready for new car. After retiring in Florida I spent many hours on web researching and test drove Hyundai, Toyota and Masda. Almost bought the Hyundai but decided Toyota made more sense. Went to Orlando, Fla and on a lark swung by the Honda dealer. They unloaded a Pilot and we jumped on it. Had been my first choice but being scarce I ruled it out. Beautiful to drive and I am in love with it. Its well built and handles very well. Love the color and gas mileage.l

  • awsome supersized super vehicle - 2016 Honda Pilot

Purchased exl with honda sensing on 7/22 , currently have 3800 miles, super powerful, steady, responsive vehicle, no issues whatsoever, I do not care m6ch about finger marks on infitainment tab as indicated by some of the respected owners. This vehicle could be compared with some of the best on road, I would not say it will beat cayene or x5 but I have seen that it responds and keeps going on the highways effortlessly with excellent command and agility. By the way , with all due respect to other brands which I reserched and some test driven, i am m very happy to come across few artcles on pilot 2016 and choosing to visit honda dealership with family for test drive, my family and myself were so impressed with external and internal looks so finalized on pilot. Had to struggle to get color & model for few weeks, no discounts from msrp as of 7/22 but extremely happy to have this big beast, lots of space, power, ease to operate...

  • Huge design mistakes - 2017 Honda Pilot
    By -

We took a 2017 Pilot XLE for a test drive today as part of a segment comparison with the Highlander and the CX-9. We purposefully stayed away from the higher trims for the Pilot since their 9-speed transmission is getting such bad reviews. Well, I came out unimpressed. The interior is definitely the least refined of the three (probably because of the lower trim level, but thats all we had to compare). The same can be said for the exterior, which is pretty bland compared to the Highlander and CX-9. Some would even feel stronger about it, but thats a matter of taste. At least we can say its uninspired, the CR-V has way more character. To be fair, there was nothing wrong when driving it or with the entertainment system. I tried plugging my Android phone to test Android Auto, and while it did work, it wasnt the screen mirroring from my phone onto the head unit like I expected, merely some old-looking Android apps that were somehow synchronized with my phone, for example Google Maps. Not as good as I thought. I wish I brought a lightning cable for my wifes iphone to test Apple CarPlay. But most of all, there are several design mistakes that make me flat out pass on this car. First, the camera-based LaneWatch feature, that manages to be even more dangerous than just turning your head. Another reviewer already mentionned how pointless this system is, and unfortunately the proper BSI system is only available on the higher trims, so youre stuck with it. Also, the 2nd-row folding seats, while providing a one-touch sliding feature, wont slide without folding first! This means no child seats on the second row if you also need access to the third row. I double and triple checked since this was so huge. I cant believe they call it a family car, unless theyre targeting families with grown children only. This might be different with the captains chairs, as I only tried with the 2nd row bench. Anyway, at least it makes my decision between the Highlander and the Pilot easier.

  • You Get More For Your Money - 2006 Honda Pilot

I have a MBenz C240 and was thinking to get a ML350. With the high gas prices, I decided to get reliable car that uses regular gas. The 2006 Honda Pilot EXL with DVD player is an excellent choice, youll get more for your money. Smooth ride, reliable engine, very good interior leather work, excellent sound system with the DVD player on. You also get 3 months free of XM Satellite radio. Very comfortable driver and front passenger heated seats, lots of cargo room with the third seat down and uses regular gas. And the greatest part is for less than $35K youll get a full loaded car.

  • HOT HOT HONDA - 2003 Honda Pilot

Best dam SUV we ever owned.

  • Noise from gas tank - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

I purchased the car in Aug 08. and was extremely happy with the car until two days later. I noticed that the steering would pull to the right. I was told it was the crown in the road. Having insisted on something being done, a number of adjustments were made and it drives better. The next issue which has me pondering trading the car in,is noise heard from the gas tank. When the gas tank is full, I can hear the gas sloshing around and it makes a loud thumping noise. The dealership stated this was due to the design of the gas tank and a condition of the car. Take the opportunity to turn off your radio and drive around. Otherwise, it has great space, and a comfortable ride. Gas mileage is ok.

    THE BEST AMONG THE ULTIMATE

  • Pilot leads the way! - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have owned the Pilot for less than a week, but I sure do love it. The ride is car-like and visibility over my car is ten fold. There is so much room in this mid-size SUV, even more than some larger ones. I feel the styling is very clean, inside and out. Riding down the freeway makes you feel very safe knowing that you have ten air bags availabe, if needed. It may not turn heads on the road, but thats OK because it may prevent an accident.
