Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Awesome in all respects - 2004 Honda Pilot

Did our research and it paid off. You cant beat the Pilots quality per dollar spent with any SUV on the road. 70+ percent of the vehicle is an Acura MDX at more than $10,000 less the price. Although the vehicle may not turn a lot of heads as you drive down the road, from the interior youll know you made the right decision. I dont ever remember driving a vehicle that feels more solid nor made me feel more safe.

  • Excellent SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot

Excellent handling, massive storage space, cupholders everywhere, considered the toyota 4runner and nissan pathfinder but the pilot drives and feels better. More stable cornering and better value.

Seems to be a great car. I was skeptical as I was coming from a larger car and motor(excursion/diesel). I enjoy the pilot because it is fun to drive and easy to park. For everyday use and around town, I recommend this car. It is a little cramped for weekend family trips. I shopped for about 2 months including a car show. When asked what was important, my requirements were white ext. tan int. heated seats, DVD and good mileage. WHAT I GOT was white ext. "fern int, Excellent heated seats, OK DVD system, and DECENT mileage 16/18

  • The best SUV and the best ROI in SUVs - 2005 Honda Pilot

This is the best value for money when it comes to families with kids who do not want to spend thru the roof for a very dependable, fun-to-drive, very reliable, reputed, solid SUV. With its all wheel drive, ABS, leather, and many other features, this is the best choice for feople who really do not care so much about the name.

  • Honda hits a Home Run - 2016 Honda Pilot

I carefully compared test driving the Toyota Highlander and the new Pilot. Each has its own merits, but the Honda won hands down. It is quieter, smoother and peppier than the Toyota. Price was much better too. Toyota was offering an end of the year Highlander for more than a better equipped 2016 Pilot. I was all set to buy a Highlander during the summer, but saw the new Pilot was just hitting the market. Super glad I waited. Handles great for an SUV. Has plenty of power and good mileage for a large vehicle. I like the nine speed transmission, smooth and silky. Ride is very quiet when absorbing uneven pavement and ruts and motoring down the highway. Love the layout and technology. Lots of storage and bins. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I checked just about every vehicle in this class. I ended up with the Pilot because it has room, good gas mileage, is well appointed inside and looks great. Faults are that the seat adjustment is primitive and the A/C needs constant adjustment for comfort. Also the second row of seats does not lie flat. It has a 4 ft width inside which is great for a sheet of plywood. I sometimes need to do this. I would prefer that the tailgate lie flat which it does not. Neither does any other car. Ride is smooth unlike some SUVs which are choppy. I added leather.

  • Off /road Machine - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Just did initial 600 mile test run in Mts. of Western North Carolina. Very smooth on highway, a little too much body roll in curves(used to bimmer) This is a serious off-road vehicle , It was toe to toe with a landcruiser but the Honda was much more smooth. Great fun and comfort off road. With DVD, the ultimate small family machine. For now,the havasu blue , one of the best looking vehicles on the road today.

  • Good but not for the markup - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Pilot is a good car if in the MSRP. With markup range from $2,000 to $4,000, it justifies another look of MDX. A little bumpy on highway even the road is not that bad. A little crowded for a family of six.
