Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

A great vehicle. Lots of room and very comfortable. Great gas milage. Its about time they built a real Honda suv not a rebadged Izuzu.

  • Amazing - 2009 Honda Pilot

I am 58 years old and have had numerous vehicles, cars and pick-ups; the Pilot is the one vehicle I have truly enjoyed. Before I bought the Pilot I researched the Edge; Flex; the Honda CRV and a couple of others, finally cutting my choices down to the above 3 vehicles. I researched the vehicles on line and then went to a few dealerships, stopping at a Honda dealer last to check out the CRV. On the floor was the Pilot, it had the room I wanted and a nav unit which I felt was a must, one test ride and I was hooked. By controlling my speed I average right at 24 MPG highway driving which for all the size and comfort is acceptable

  • Perfect To Drive - 2005 Honda Pilot

After driving my Pilot I will never go back to my Explorer. PERFECT for travel and ease of driving. More leg room and great for the tall person or the average person.

  • Excellent SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
    By -

We took this SUV on a road trip through Yellowstone and the Rockies, excellent gas mileage of 23/28. We never thought we would get such good mileage from a big vehicle. The ride was very smooth and comfortable. According to one of the cons of owning this vehicle is the feeling that one feels to big behind the wheel. I am only 52" and didnt have any problems, I did not feel as though the vehicle was to big to handle. I felt very comfortable driving it. Excellent vehicle!

  • My 2nd Honda Pilot - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

Just bought my 2nd Honda Pilot - traded in the 2003 for a 2006. Great car, but the 2003 didnt have all the extras like the moon roof, 6-cd in-dash, etc.

  • Fantastic Vehicle, poor radio/entertainment system - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Solid! I previously owned a 2007 Pilot, and the 2016 redesign is a major improvement. Side mirror camera, push button start, remote start are a few of my favorite features that I suddenly cant live without. Theres not much more praise I can add to the many positive reviews out there. But there is one huge letdown with the 2016 Pilot -- the entertainment system. 1. Gone are the days of a simple volume control you could twist if you suddenly needed a lower or higher volume. Honda now gives you an electronic slider thats sluggish -- like petting a flat glass caterpillar repeatedly hoping the volume will eventually change. 2. Everything is hidden behind slow/sluggish menus. Need to switch from radio to CD? Touch the screen, wait a bit, touch the screen, wait a bit, etc until you find the right option. 3. The FM radio. Oh the FM radio. Honda stocks the cars "premium sound system" with an FM radio that sounds like mono-AM, and fades out to a dull muffle a few times a minute. It boggles my mind. Just google "Honda pilot 2016 fm radio quality" to find various forum discussions about this problem, and Hondas (as far as I know as of this writing) lack of an official solution. Its bizarre for Honda to build such a great car, but include such a poor quality radio. 4. Playing music off of flash drives. Great in concept, but horrible in execution. Besides having to deal with the sluggish UI and lack of a decent volume button, there is also no pause/stop. Also, when you start the car, it begins automatically playing the first track (alphabetically) off the drive. Same song, EVERY TIME you start the car. We are thinking of recording a 10 minute song of silence called "aaaaaaaaaa keep your sanity" and dropping that on the flash drive to, you know, keep our sanity. 5. Have you parked the car but want to keep listening to the end of that song or news story (you know, NPR driveway moments)? Youll basically have to keep the car running if you want to listen without major interruption. There is no way to turn the car off while keeping the audio system powered. If you turn off the engine, to resume listening you then have to power the car up in accessory mode , but with a 10-20 disruption as the entertainment system must reboot (did I mention its sluggish?).

  • 2016 Honda Pilot is a great choice! - 2016 Honda Pilot

CD player does not come standard - had to purchaser from dealer separately. All digital controls take some getting use to.

  • Over Priced Under Valued Pilot - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

Vehicle rides like a wagon, stiff and bumpy. When taking turns, feels as though the body is sliding on the axle like a hot wheels car. Terrible gas mileage, but not surprising for an SUV. Youre paying (and dearly) for the Honda name! Vehicle cant hold a candle to their cars.
