Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

We really like this vehicle. It really does hold 8 people! Excellant ride, fun to drive. Best milage so far is 20mpg, but that is driving 75mph. If you have a pavement surface that tends to be noisy, you hear the difference from an Acura or Lexas, but its a LOT cheaper than them. Its just so loaded with everything you could want, and its Honda quality. We could have gotten a few extras(fog lights, tow package, GPS Navigation, or back seat DVD player(the last two are either or, cant have both)but didnt want them.) The V6 engine is certainly lively enough and cruising at relatively high speed is comfortable. We replaced a GMC Yukon and can only say "good riddance.

  • A best buy in my book - 2005 Honda Pilot

Have had 2 tahoes and though great they need upgrading to justify their price. Honda has a fine product in their Pilot with no charge for many neat features. Particulaly enjoy the quietness! This car is made in USA!; so fit and finish is available in this Country if management insists!

  • like the honda - 2003 Honda Pilot

I have 13,000 miles on my honda pilot and it has been a solid purchase. I have read other reviews and agree with some of the minor problems. The lid on the center console was a problem in not staying latched. A few small rattles that come and go. I do not like the tires. The Bridgestones are not up to the standards of others, I have tried to trade them in for better tires but the hit I would take is not worth it. Overall, I am happy with my honda. I will be taking a trip with it to Colorado from Wisconsin soon and have no doubt it will perform well.

After out 2010 Chrysler Town & Country was totaled we found this beauty on the lot. Its pretty to look at, the paint on this thing is AMAZING. We like that the outside looks small, but theres 8 seats. Its really fun and smooth to drive too. Just wish that you could get DVD entertainment along with Navigation at the same time, not sure why that wasnt possible.

  • A Hard Choice - 2009 Honda Pilot

Our family had been looking at replacing our mini-van (Honda) for about 6 months. When our 2003 Odyssey sold in less than 24 hours, we ended up having to make a quick car purchase. Thankfully I had been doing lots of research. My 1st choice was a Chevy Tahoe, but I wasnt that thrilled with the size and lack of cargo space. We drove the Mazda CX-9, Acura MDX, Toyota Highlander, and the Honda Pilot. Of all of the vehicles, Honda had the smoothest ride. My husband and I are both very tall, and we fit comfortably in both the front and second row seats. The gas mileage isnt great, but it wasnt any different in any of the vehicles we drove (Im not sure why it is constantly brought up).

  • 2006 AWD Pilot - 2006 Honda Pilot

We purchased our 2006 Pilot in November of 05, so we only have 2,000 miles on it. That said, we really like the Pilot. The ride is very smooth for a SUV and the features you get for the money are great. The build quality of our Pilot is excellent, the materials used are all nice, and our previous experience with Honda cars & vans has been good too. We wish the mileage was a little better, but we like the quick acceleration so we live with the trade off. The in dash XM radio is another favorite feature. AWD system works well in snow. Our insurance jumped up $35 a month compared to the Honda Odyssey we traded-in so check your insurance costs before you buy. Overall, a great SUV!

  • Looking at Replacement - 2003 Honda Pilot

Researching new vehicles already. Pilot is a let-down. Great value & great protection for me & 5 month old when hit (back driver-side) by a light- runner (40 mph w/$10k damage). The problem - the roof rack piece falling off & after 5 trips to the dealer they cant get rid insane rattling (windows+). My husband hates the road noise & the signature sound rounding corners. After looking at the Yukon and Sequoia, Im going to miss the storage and my payment. If only...

Great SUB. I love it. I can haul 7 kids, or a ton of various items. I have been driving SUVs since 1987 and this one rides like a dream and is my favorite SUV ever.

  • Entertainment and Cupholders let it down - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

The car to drive and own is an improvement on last model, however for 40K I would expect the entertainment system to at least be as good as the one Honda puts in the Fit! There is very limited bluetooth functionality, it is slow and very very frustrating to use due to all the features which can not be used when the car is in motion. The cup holders in the front are next too useless, as they do not hold a cup and are quite small, not an improvement at all. You also have to pay the best part of 1K to get the towing package. I would also expect some sort of USB or Power for the second row. Second and third row access is easy, the performance is great. Not sure why a full LATCH system is not available for the 3rd ROW, it was before.
