Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Pilot vs Others - 2004 Honda Pilot

I never heard of "Others". This is my 6th Honda and my first SUV. The comfortable ride and ease of handling is comparable to the Accord EX which I previously drove. All my Hondas have been 100% reliable and I have no reason to think the Pilot would be any different. The safety ratings are particularly appealing to me. As I told the General Manager at Wade Raulerson, if Honda ever went out of business, I would buy a horse!!!

This vehicle is wonderful. Great about everything. Although it does have two problems-when the road is slushy it wont stop, and the shifter is hard to use. The space is great, and so is the DVD player. Japan is my new car place!

The Pilot is a great car to drive with plenty of room inside, while not giving you that truck feeling. Vision is not impeded by vertical beams.

I actually bought this vehicle in July 2002, and almost two years later, Im still loving it. This is the first time Ive ever had a car that I still love after this length of time. I havent had anything go wrong at all. Ive had vehicles in the past that I had problems within the first two weeks of ownership.

yeah, its soft sprung. so what? this is kinda car that youd take your kids and grand ma out to see grand canyon on a 30hour drive. so softer the better, aight? with that, i dont think anything else can handle the way this truck does. even for a seden, its quite tight. its body rolls a bit and it dives somewhat in the corners but that is very very minimal price to pay for that quiet/hushed/cotten-candy ride. joe

WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING OUR PILOT FOR TWO WEEKS AND LOVING IT. WE SHOPPED AROUND FOR A NEW SUV FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS AND TEST DROVE MOST SUVS WITH THE SAME PRICE RANGE AS THE PILOT BUT THE PILOT HAD MORE TO OFFER. WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY WITH THE MILEAGE BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING MOSTLY ON THE HIGHWAY AND REGULAR FUEL MAKES IT MORE AFFORDABLE.

The Honda Pilot is my very first SUV, but my 3rd Honda vehicle. I traded in my perfectly fine 2000 Accord because there is finally an affordable SUV on the market that rides like a car. A week after I purchased this vehicle, my wife and I drove over 2000 miles roundtrip and into the mountains for vacation. Would drive 5+ hours before stopping - very comfortable and loved the storage space. On this same trip we became the chaufeur of choice at a family reunion - not a problem - tons of room for passengers. I would highly recommend this SUV.

My previous car was a 2004 Honda Pilot. Loved it so much wanted another one. MISTAKE! I have had it for one year. After six months, I was aware of three problems. Neither of them could be fixed. 1. Unable to start the car because I could not depress the brake enough to start it. This was a random problem. Did not happen when I took it in to the dealership, so they had no idea how to fix it. 2. Horrible shift from first to second gear. Takes and extra second to engage transmission. When I am accelerating, there is a noticeable lurch. Was told it is the way nine speed transmission works. Well, it is really bad! Would think a more expensive car would be smoother! 3. The entertainment system crashes and restarts. Once again, not every day, not every time I drive it. Once again, nothing wrong with the car.

Excellent ride for SUV. Medium mileage. Will seat 6 easily. 7 is a stretch

Purchased the 06 Pilot EX AWD for $24,200. I love how the truck handles and comes with lots of useful amenities. It rides like a car. Advance safety features come standard. The only thing I dont like from the Pilot is the placement shift lever. It should be placed in the console. Besides, wider wheels and tires would be helpful for more grips to the road. Moonroof should be available in the EX Models! Other than those mentioned above, its a perfect build SUV for a family.
