Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Excellent Reliable Mid-Size SUV - 2004 Honda Pilot

My new Pilot EXL with DVD is a great car. It runs extremely smooth, the DVD option is great for the kids. The interior feels a lot more roomier than it actually looks. The fold away 3rd row seats are also great. The DVD operation up front is a little confusing, but it could be because I didnt read the manual thoroughly enough. Get the remote starter, it is a life saver during the cold winter months, especially with a baby in tow. Gas mileage is to be expected, exactly what it states, I think 17 street miles per gallon. But thats the price we pay for a SUV! And the Honda name, its trust and security, well worth it!

  • Love It! Highly Recommend... - 2004 Honda Pilot

Bought this vehicle new in July, after having a new baby. Did much research on SUVs before purchasing. Love it. Took it on a crosscountry trip this Christmas (over 1900 miles) with 2 adults, 2 kids under the age of 2, and all of our stuff along. It performed admirably! We were Toyota people before buying this, but the Highlander wasnt big enough, and the Sequoia was too big and too much of a gas hog. The Pilot fit our needs perfectly.

The new honda pilot is a reiable and fun family SUV. it has great features and has great quality.

  • Solid and powerful, but pricey - 2003 Honda Pilot

I was surprised that the exterior looks more muscular and athletic than the most photos show. It has a more masculine look than the Highlander. The Pilot EX interior wasnt as attractive as the Highlander Limited - and the dealer-installed faux wood is about $600 extra. Still, the interior was comfortable - although perhaps more designed for a larger-framed person than is the Toyota. It was very roomy inside for a mid-sized - with the 2nd & 3rd row flat, the storage space was cavernous.

this vehicle is awesome. there is a premium above msrp, but compared to everything else on the market this is a steal. i took delivery of my taffeta white/fern pilot ex-l 5/31, and i cant get anough of it. in fact i think my neighbor wants want too.

  • Great, safe vehicle - 2003 Honda Pilot

We had our Pilot for just about 2 years and had no problems with it. It was great for: (i) driving kids in the carpool to school, (ii) taking long trips (DVD in the car may be mans greatest invention) (iii) heading up to the mountains for skiing. I was involved in an accident this past weekend and was broadsided at 55 mph. The Pilot is probably totalled, but my only injuries are bruising from the seatbelt. Since the car is probably totalled we will be getting another Pilot - It looks like it held its value beyond our expectations. Truly a great vehicle by a great company.

  • A great vehicle! - 2009 Honda Pilot

Just finished the first 1000 miles on the 09 Pilot Touring with R&N 4wd. This vehicle is so comfortable and fun to drive. It is very quiet, roomy, and the features are never ending. I also have a 2004 Pilot that has also been great, but I must admit that the new body style is greatly improved. I have been pleasantly surprised at all the nice electronic features that have been added. Have not complaints at all at this point. Gas mileage is about 20, very similar to what the 2004 Pilot gets.

  • Very pleased - 2004 Honda Pilot

Compared to Highlander, Sequoia and new VW SUV and feel it is a great value. However, all the other vehicles were impressive. The size makes the third seat a seat that can be used more easily, albiet the Sequoia has an adult orieted third seat. The Sequoia is however a V8 and with the rising cost of gas the Hondas MPG made a difference in the decision. The Honda has an impressive ride for what is a much bigger car than it appears from the outside. The whole family contributed to the decision and we have been thrilled with our choice thus far.

Had to have it after the first test drive. Very comfortable ride and a good solid feel of the road makes this one of the best SUVs available.

  • The best SUV! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I had a 2007 Pilot, with 200,000 miles. And it was great but I wanted something newer. Im glad I made it the new Pilot! It is seriously the best SUV after comparing other similar ones. The safety is amazing. Comfort is great, the seats are the best. I love the LEDs in the front and the back. Also, its an awesome looking SUV. I think its the best looking one. If you are looking for an SUV with great technology, safety, comfort, and all around luxury, I highly suggest that you make it the Pilot. I fogot to mention the gas mileage, I get an average of 26 to 27 mpg. Which is incredible for this SUV. GREAT VAN!!!
