Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • SHAME on HONDA! - 2011 Honda Pilot

Between my wife and I we have had 5 Hondas. Gas milage in the previous four models exceeded the MPG window label. With the 2011 Pilot which is advertised at 16 to 23, I am getting 13 to 19. Owned the car just a month and had a recall already...bolts on front end needed to be tightened...wheels might come off they said!!! To be fair...I love the car. It rides like a dream and has so much room. But I will hold Honda to a high standard...I expect no more problems...if I do I will make certain to let everyone know. Honda lied about the gas milage on this car. Shame on them!

I like my pilot I was excited to get it but I am disappointed in the ride. It seems that when you take it above 55 mph it has a vibration just enought to annoy you while your driving. I have taken my Pilot back several times, it has 3000 miles on it, they have replace the tires, rims, reblanced and road balanced the tires and it still there. Unfortunatley I have made a complaint to Honda and hopefully they will help me out. If any of you have the same problem please let me know but it seems like I may have a LEMON!

Traded an 08 RDX for an 11 EX-L 12/22/10. Came close to ignoring the Pilot after reading the editors review. We had an 05, so visited the local Honda dealer for a test drive. Bought it immediately after. Here is my take after a 1200 mile round trip from GA to FL (7.5 hrs ea way). Performance, acceleration, handling, and braking are fine. It is relatively quiet, quite comfortable, and a pleasure to drive on a long trip. We got 22.8 mpg with a new engine & cruise set @ 77-83. Center stack does have a lot of buttons but, the layout is quite logical rendering it a non-issue. The vehicle also features outstanding reliability and owner satisfaction over the long term (check Consumer Reports).

  • I would buy it again!! - 2010 Honda Pilot

Traded in our 08 Accord in Nov. 09 for our 10 Pilot LX. First thing we did was go to ebay & bought (4) Touring wheels (Brand new). Then we bought the running light kit from a Honda dealer in Ohio. I then bought a custom grill kit from CarID in Ca. and two chrome pipe extensions. We also bought the faux chrome strips that go in the door guards. After taking off that goofy looking grill, installing the awesome billet grill (2 pc. upper & lower) installing the running lights and exhaust extensions and door chrome this LX is awesome. The good part.... I saved $4500 by doing it myself. Absolutely love the big roomy SUV.... have driven it to Florida and back and to Ohio and back. # 1 car

  • Outstanding - 2008 Honda Pilot

This vehicle was thought through very well when designed. Great room for its class size. Gas mileage exceptional. I have heard a lot of negative comments about road noise. I have not experienced this road noise and feel it rides very smooth and quiet. AWD works well for normal winter and typical off road driving. Would not recommend taking it on the Rubicon trail but will hold its own on basic rough terrain. Thumbs up again Honda for a job well done.

  • check your oil - 2009 Honda Pilot

we owned the vehicle since Aug 09 and it has ran very good. I am concerned about the oil consumption Burning oil) Had all but an oil changed at the dealer, one at the local mechanic. Before going on longer trips, I always checked the fluids. Saw the oil was low. topped it off and then checked periodically. We have 25K miles on it now and used synthetic oil. It appears I am not the only one complaining or noticing the low oil level. check out carcomplaints.com. Going to see what the dealer has to say and have it documented. Please check you oil level also and if you are low, bring it to their attention. Perhaps with enough complaints, honda will have to do something, . (

  • Bit of a letdown - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

My second Pilot, upgraded from the 2004. Although I love Hondas reliability, the quality of this Pilot is a bit of a disappointment. Driven for almost 2 years now. I have had issues with the windows rattling from the start. Very annoying and they have been unable to fix. Seat fabric in the EX is not easy to clean and can stain. Seats squeak in the back, seat belts rattle on plastic if not straight. Overall doesnt feel as well made as my "04." It is fun to drive and I feel very safe in it. I love the large size, fits everything. Gas mileage isnt great but I didnt expect it to be. Due to rattles and squeaks, will probably be my last Honda. Need better quality on the inside.

  • Wifes 1st honda- continued - low oil now - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

We had the vehicle for 24,000 miles and it is running good. I did notice at about 15,000 miles before an oil change it was low on oil, not low enough for the light to come on though. I been monitoring the oil level since then wondering if it was dripping for the filter or the oil plug, but nothing. Now with 24,000+ miles I still notice I need to add a quart of oil in between oil changes. Started looking on-line to see if anyone else is starting to notice the same as myself, YES they r. Check your oil level in between changes to see if your vehicle is also consuming oil too. I had been using synthetic oil at every oil change. Im curious if other owners are noticing the consumption. Look forward
