Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

Good SUV. Easy to drive. Comfortable, and spacious, but the speed oscillates when cruise control is activated. Great driving on fresh snow as well as mud. Kids are delighted with third row seats. Large cargo area. Very comfortable during long trips.

  • Better than a Mercedes! - 2004 Honda Pilot

The best car I have ever owned. Awesome. GREAT acceleration, AWESOME fuel economy, seats that are more comfortable for long-range driving than a Mercedes (I sold my old 350SEL for the Pilot, and boy was I grateful for a better ride). I was behind a 70mp freeway crash last summer. A car from the right lane skidded and hit the car (in front of me!) in the far left lane. The Pilot handled beatifully.

I purchased the Pilot in July of this year (2004). So far so good, I enjoy the ride, the handling, the thought Honda has put into the interior. I purchased the Honda Pilot EXL w/DVD Entertainment system. My family has been impressed with the Honda Pilot, espiecially the DVD system and the roominess of the vehicle.

The Pilot is an Acura MDX in sheeps clothing. It is closs to 10k less for the same vehicle.

Vehicle is easy to drive, handles exceptionally well, accelerates gracefully and quickly, and has plenty of storage capacity. Air conditioning and heating is excellent. Plenty of cup holders and storage trays and compartments.

  • Very happy owner - 2004 Honda Pilot

Solid, reliable, comfortable. How can you ask for more. No flaws, no dealer service needed. The auto all-wheel drive is very good, you literally cant spin the wheels and you cant tell if all four wheels are engaged. Very quiet and smooth on the highway, very stable at high speed and manuvering. Acceration is very good for a 4,000+ lb vehicle. Has the usual outstanding Honda engine. No clunks, no front wheel torque. I guess Im happy with this SUV.

  • We Really Like Our Honda Pilot - 2004 Honda Pilot

We purchased one week after introduction in June 2002. It has been free of any major problems. Our Honda dealer seems to make a good effort servicing the vehicle and has kept us happy. I like its extra width which provides a luxurious roominess. The stow area in the center console is a very good design feature--easy place to place hand-carried items. Im glad we got leather seats.

  • Great SUV!! - 2003 Honda Pilot

So far at 30000 miles only problem was with the rear wiper motor. After test driving the awkward and cumbersome Expedition, I found the Pilot a pleasure to drive the leather seats are divine and the vehicles ergonomics are delightful! The modular setup of the center console makes organizing gadget easy. The Pilot is great in the snow but due to its minivan platform serious off-road and towing capabilities are limited. The fuel economy is better than most SUVs but the industry has miserably failed consumers in fuel efficiency. If serious off-roading and/or towing arent important youd be hard pressed to find a better value SUV. I love this vehicle.

  • Excellent Vehicle - 2004 Honda Pilot

Offers excellent headroom for a 6ft 4inch person. Smooth riding, good milage, shift level sometimes goes to d3 but not a real problem. Excellent in snow and ice. After driving the car for 7 months I definitely would recommend the vehicle to friends.
