Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

its a very nice car, weve wanted a Pilot for a few years. There are some things that should have been standard on the car but obviously not. no tinted front window, no extendable visors, no double visors. USB port very inconveniently placed.

Purchased the 09 Pilot EX AWD and took it up in the snowy mountains. Handled really well w/ the 4WD. Very roomy for 8 full sized adults. Quiet ride quality.

Fyi: took mine to a Houston dealer and all of the problems with transmission and radio have been addressed. Honda came out with software updates to correct the problems. Believe me I was ready to trade it in but the Pilot runs like a champ now!

  • Disappointed - 2004 Honda Pilot

Ive now owned my Honda Pilot for 10 months and logged 20,000 miles both in town and on trips. Im finally giving up and turning it in. My major complaint is comfort...my 62" husband and two pre-teen sons feel like sardines on trips. At 510", I can barely stand sitting in the second row seat. My second complaint is gas mileage. Despite a 17/22 rating, Im lucky if we get 18 on trips...initially we were getting 15 in town. When I returned to the dealership they said the mileage would improve after the first 10,000 miles. It has improved slightly, but still nowhere near the stated rating. This SUV is fine for the driver and front seat passenger, but is not a good family trip car!

  • Nice vehicle but needs a few adjustments - 2005 Honda Pilot

It is hard to go wrong with a Honda. However, there a few quirks with the 2005 Pilot. While the interior is spacious and the instrument panel well laid out, leg room comfort of the driver is less than desirable. Honda needs to rethink the placement of the emergency brake - it interferes with those of us with moderate and long legs. It is hard to strech out and take advantage of the foot rest with brake pedal where it is. The stiff rear-hatch tension makes it hard to close an open hatch - particluarly while carrying something. Acceleration is often jerky and unrefined - particularly in city driving. The sound systems is OK, but could use improvment - my cd changer was broken at delivery

  • Honda does it again - 2003 Honda Pilot

This is a great vehicle for every occasion. Styling could be better, but Im sure Honda will work on that in the future. This vehicle is comfortable, sporty, and luxurious all at once. People cant believe how large it is until they see it up close, or until they get inside. I get nothing but compliments on how good it rides.

Have owned my 2003 Pilot for 10 months. The only problem that I have experienced is a clunking sound when the air conditioner kicks on. Other than that, love it.

  • a night in bad weather - 2004 Honda Pilot

I have purchased a 2003 pilot with leather, it is heavy and great handling, 1 experience i had was in the night i found my self heading for a foot of water and when i hit this water at 40 miles per hour, this pilot handled it very well, no pulling to the left or right it handled the situation perfectly, like no other car i drove. this auto is safe in all weather conditions.

So far I have 1100 miles on it. I am really enjoying the smooth ride. I traded in my 2016 Toyota Highlander for the pilot. I do miss my Highlander but the pilot has so much more options. I dont need the DVD player that you automatically get with this version but it will add value later. The car appleplay is okay. I dont like having to plug in my phone each time to use it. It could be improved. This vehicle has a auto engine idle. The navigation is neat. It shows you exactly where you are as if you are looking from the sky. It even has pictures of exit signs. The sensing is not as sensitive as people have stated. Its doing what is it suppose to do. Lots of interior storage. Leg room is good. The car seems so much bigger from the inside. Overall I am very happy with the purchase
