Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

Always wanted a Pilot but was unwilling to pay going price...finally got used one with trade of CRV. Rides high and big like a truck which gives me an added sense of safety/security on these narrow mountain roads. Love the ride and handling. Storage compartments are very functional. Drivers seat with lumbar knob makes for VERY comfortable ride.

I researched and test drove all the competitions models and the Honda Pilot came out on top in every area except its weight. You can really feel the weight dragging behind you during acceleration. If this is a problem for you, then the 2005 model may be what you are looking for. The extra hp make up the difference. This "Sport Utility Vehicle" will not take you off-roading or exploring treacherous terrain, but it is the best at being a "family adventure vehicle." Its a super value with the Honda quality and reliability we have grown accustomed to. I am a very proud owner.

  • Very practical - the right choice for us - 2007 Honda Pilot

This is one heck of a value: well built, well designed and well priced. Sure, it lacks some of the "luxury" touches you find on other makes - HID, memory seats, Bluetooth, wood trim - but for us these items were not worth the extra $8k - $10 even though we can afford it. Put it in the 529 for the yutes

We did a lot of research before we bought the pilot. It has plenty of room and plenty of pep. Compared to the seats in a subaru outback, these seats are great. We tow it behind our motorhome and its really easy to set up to tow. We had a minivan and even though this is a little shorter, everyone is much more comfortable and the ride is great. We dont use the 3rd seat often, but its great to have when its needed. This is our first Honda car (my husband rides Honda motorcycles) and we love it! Last summer we drove 5 hours to Upstate NY with two kids (one is 16, the other is 10) and a golden retriever. Everyone was comfortable and the gas mileage was 23 mpg with the a/c on.

Waited since June for SageBrush Pearl- worth the wait. Wanted Honda reliability but couldnt take driving another minivan. Will keep this one for a long time (our Accord is still going strong 11 years and 175,000 miles later). Bought over Internet for 2000 under MSPR- threw in some free accessories too.

Outstanding internior design. Utilization of space, controls and visability are the best of any car at any cost I have experienced. Excellent over size, performance. My one frustration is that I replaced OEM tires with Goodyear Fortura HLs at delivery and have vibration and harshness in ride. Has anyone had good experience with OEM tire replacement?

Excellent vehicle to get out of town for a long weekend. Great on the highway, with plenty of window view.

  • Other than the mileage....... - 2003 Honda Pilot

This is a great vehicle. Driving it is fun....I feel safe, and it goes VERY well in snow. Bought the car used, was hesitant at first, but it was the right decision. Not very good on gas, and that is really the only drawback. Hondas certified used program is excellent. My wife has a CRV we bought new in 1999, has 67000 miles on it and its been in for service once, and that was for brakes. I am a big Honda fan.
