Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • I love my Honda Pilot - 2004 Honda Pilot

We did a lot of research on SUVs and also used Consumer Reports recommendation. We needed an 8 seat SUV and I am not a Van person. I can carry 7 teenagers (put basketball players in 3rd row seat) plus myself. It handles like a good car, has lots of storage space, radio can be handled from 2nd row seat and has loads of cargo space.

Used daily on steep dirt and gravel roads to work and shopping. Used on a long trip on unimproved mountain roads in Chile and Argentina, including heavy snow and heavy rain. Used on another long trip with 8 people aboard. Exterior appearance much better than I had been led to believe from reviews. Had an Acura MDX in United States prior to moving to Chile - loved it, but the Pilot is better. Superb!

I recently took my new Pilot on a 1000 mile road trip. It had good gas milage, was very comfortable, and provided a peaceful ride (I have the entertaiment package, my daughter enjoyed movies, listen to her own cds or chose her our radio station!). The third row seat is a bonus, but not made for adults. PS (I enjoyed the attention the vehicle received the first few weeks I had it, people would stop me in a store parking lot asking me about it!)

I was not in the market to purchase a new vehicle, but since my motor blew I had no choice. With a grand-daugther on the way, 4 teen/adult children of my own and a fiance I needed space, space, and more space. And thats exactly what I got! Im so happy with my Honda, I think of places to go just to drive it. I was set on the Pacifica, but my fiance really pushed for me to test the Pilot. All of 10 mins I was sold. Great handling (which was my complaint with the Pacifica),easy access to buttons, safety features all around this SUV. Ive already put the carseat in and still we have room. No more complaints about not enough room. Great family SUV, and it fits my sexy self.

  • WHAT HAPPANED TO HONDA QUALITY. - 2004 Honda Pilot

OVER ALL HONDA PILOT IS AN AVERAGE SUV.HONDA COULD OF DONE A MUCH BETTER JOB BULIDING THIS SUV.FOR EXAMPLE,THEY COULD OF MADE THE INTERIOR MORE PLUSH,INSTEAD OF USING SO MUCH PLASTIC, THERE ARE NO SUN ROOF,CHEAP STEREO,NO OPTION ON 4X4 OR 2X4,SHIFTING GEAR GETS STUCK,DOOR HANDLES DO NOT MATCH THE COLOR OF THE VEHICLE.

  • Tough to find a better car at this size - 2016 Honda Pilot

We shopped for almost a year before we made up our mind on this car. Cars we considered : Toyota, Acura, Lexus, Volvo, Nissan. We got out of a 2012 Odyssey Touring Elite and wanted to keep the space but make it a little more grown up. All other choices are great but here is what we found: All other cars a pretty much useless in the 3rd row for adults but I being 62" fit in the back seat comfortably in the Pilot. There is actually space that you could load something with the 3rd row up (Most other cars had no space at all). Very spacious front row seats , better than in the Odyssey for people with long legs. Safety equipment is off the chart. For a car with a factory entertainment system its hard to find a lower price. And for all the people that say this looks like a minivan, go look at it in person. It is much better especially with the 20" rims on it. Trust me I hated driving the Minivan, this is a welcome change. The pick up on this car is outstanding, I have to drive it in eco-mode to not speed! Car handles very well, no idea what people are saying about a bad handling, FYI this is a big and heavy car but it handles great. It has electric steering which has multiple upsides but one of the downsides is some disconnection with the "feel" of the road, maybe thats what they are talking about? This car is more quiet when driving than my $60K Lexus. Quality inside is outstanding for the cost. Some suggestions for improvements. Flip down armrest to be a little stockier. It isnt flimsy but it looks it. Maybe its just mine but the transmission is a little jerky on the downshifts. I will have it looked at, maybe Im just too picky.

  • Not Impressed with my 1st Honda - 2004 Honda Pilot

There is nothing wrong with a Honda, some people are just not meant to drive one. The style I find very boring. More importantly, the stereo speakers are hard to listen to. The steering wheel controls are nice. It would be nicer if you could go forwards and backwards but you can only go forward with your selections from the steering wheel. So if you like a song on your CD you have to advance through the others to get back to the last song. The other option is to take yours eyes off the road and lean way over to the radio and use the search button. As for fuel mileage, it is about 14-mpg city by my calculations. If you like Honda, you like the Pilot, otherwise keep looking.

  • Best Value - 2007 Honda Pilot

Everyone loves a Honda Pilot. We felt so lucky to find such a clean car with less than 75,000 miles. The car is extremely reliable. There isnt a lot of creature comforts with this trim style, but if you are looking for a car that you can drive for until 200,000 or more, than a Honda Pilot is something you should consider.
