Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

Awsome car. Very roomy for a family of 5. Well designed interior especially the radio controls on steering wheel. Rides very smooth, though it will remind you that it is still a truck. Has generous amount of storage compartments.

  • A great vehicle - 2003 Honda Pilot

I have about 41,000 miles on it now, and it looks and runs like new. Knock on wood, there have been no problems. Folding down the seats and hauling heavy loads is a cinch. It is also easy to pack nine of the family into it, with plenty of cupholders and outlets for MP3s. There is a lot of road noise, and I seldom use the radio at highway speed because of it. Otherwise, it is comfortable to drive, dependable and convenient.

My entire family has enjoyed our 2005 Honda Pilot. The high safety ratings are a must for us. We owned a Honda Odyssey prior to this vehicle. It was totaled when a semi 18 wheeler slammed into the rear end of us. With the protection we had during the accident, I think I will always buy a Honda. We were skeptical about the Pilot at first but we have not regretted it for a moment. During our vehicle shopping experience we drove several SUVs, including the Mercedes. None of the others compaired to the Pilot. My fourteen year old daughter is hoping she will be handed the keys when she gets her licenses in a couple of years. So..... it must be pretty cool to teenagers too.

  • I wouldnt give my Pilot up for anything - 2005 Honda Pilot

I have had my Pilot for over a year now and it still runs as well as it did when I first bought. I love the way it handles. The AWD is great and it makes me feel so much safer. Ive driven other SUVs and the Pilot is by far, my favorite. My niece even went out to get herself one after taking mine out for a test drive.

We couldnt decide between the Pilot or Highlander. The Pilot won out because of its space plus The engine on the Pilot seemed stronger and the Pilot had better road stabality. . We had a very positive dealer experience in NJ. We live outside Philadelphia and would had to have ordered a pilot at MRSP. In Nj, close to LBI, we found a pilot that had been ordered but not picked up. We paid $500 below MRSP plus trade and some cash down. Roof rack and cross bars were thrown in along with rear mud guards. We have put on 500 miles and love driving our new pilot. Highly recommend it.

  • Best in class - 2003 Honda Pilot

Ive owned several Hondas and an Acura. The first was a 1975 Honda Civic. The Pilot is a worthy successor. Its more comfortable than my top-of-the-line Acura, and it is the first Honda that allows me to sit up straight without my head touching the ceiling. The DVD player is well intergrated with the stereo and the 5 Star crash rating for an SUV makes this vehicle hard to beat.

  • 05 EX with NAV - 2005 Honda Pilot

Overall this was a good purchase. Dont like that the passenger seat does not have power. Even with Premium gas we have not been able to get the stated gas mileage of 22. It really eats gas over 70 mph on the highway. :-( Also, dont quite understand why you cant get both DVD and NAV. The rear seat climate control does not adjust fan speed, only temp. Very peppy for take off. Also, first smaller suv I have not been afraid of rolling in high speed manuevers. Very much liked the safety ratings. The 05 did not come with side curtain air bags, but for $5000 more, the 06 did. The 06 also came with a variable speed motor which greatly improved its gas mileage.

This has to be the best car/SUV I have bought! You would never know you were driving an SUV. Cant wait to get up and go for a drive!

  • Want a great SUV? - 2003 Honda Pilot

After looking at a bunch of admittedly nice-looking but chintzy feeling american SUVs (Envoy, Denali, Cherokee) we despaired of finding what we were looking for. Honda must have read our minds. The Pikot is neat looking, well built, comfortable to drive and has enough "stuff" to keep us happy. You may have to pay slightly over list but even so, the value is there.
