Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Honda SUV is fun to drive - 2005 Honda Pilot

Lots of fun to drive. Good response, easy to park. A little tight for a big guy to get into and our of the driver seat. Cruise on off switch is out of the way and I had to take my eyes off the road to find it. Drivers seat could use better lumbar support. I would like more hidden storage.

We traded our 2001 Odyessy for a 2005 Black Pilot. We are sure glad we did, we didnt realize how much we like being a little higher compared to our van, and our CR-V. Our new pilot is very quick when accelerating onto freeways. The gas mileage could possibly be better for being a mianly front wheel drive suv(glad it has low range). The interior is a huge improvement over our vans, and is easier to see out back. Our Pilot is great in allweather and we are enjoying it very much so far in the winter. THIS CAR ROCKS!

  • Very good vehicle - 2005 Honda Pilot

This vehicle was a replacement for a Grand Caravan and although we lost some interior space, it is a very versatile, smooth, and comfortable vehicle. We recently took a 12 hour trip and it was very comfortable. I really like the was this bigger vehicle handles, it has good power, and I like the features it has. Im glad Honda didnt succom to the employee pricing gimmick which would have made all of ours worth less. My only complaints would be its bland styling, and somewhat weak radio. Im also not a fan of the cruise control button, but this is minor. It drives/handles well, gets decent mileage for a big SUV, has good power, is very versitle, and comfortable - everything you need.

  • well made with bells &whistles but bland - 2007 Honda Pilot

Car is a little too big for my original needs but it is better to have more space than less. Fuel economy reasonable for its size. Seat a little hard to get comfortable in-- I am very big. Well made, peppy, lots of creature comforts. Nav system a fun toy. Back up camera useful. All in all an excellent value.

  • Great Choice - 2005 Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot was a great choice for my family. It has seating for 8 for those occasions when you have a big group to haul around and just a little stuff. The rest of the time it has a ton of storage space for luggage, toys, groceries, or whatever you need to have in the car along with 5 people. The back seat (2nd row) is wide enough for 2 kids in car seats plus an adult to sit between them. Try that in an Accord or any other mid-size sedan. Or even in a Highlander. Good luck squeezing in. Thats not a problem in a Pilot. We have averaged 18 MPG overall. Usually 16-17 around town, 20-22 on the highway.

  • My Opinion - 2003 Honda Pilot

So far my experience with the PILOT is very good except the driver has to pay attention not to operate the wiper by trying to shift. It happened to me several time before I learn to pay attention.

I have never been the "soccer mom" type but I was forced to get a car with more room. I must admit though the pilot is a great buy its got the most room for the money, and ofcourse my kids love the dvd player. I am very happy with my purchace.

Have had this car just over 2 months - Purchased 1/08/09. Have only 890 miles on it and it has been in the shop most of the time. 1/15/09-No start-dealer towed away. Replaced battery cable. 1/26/09-4 wheel drive VTM4 light on. Told it was cold and vehicles do funny things. Dealer reset computer. 2/04/09-4 wheel drive VTM4 light on. Told it was bad battery. 3/03/09- Opened passenger door and it rubs against front quarter panel- scraped off paint. Dealer couldnt fix it until 3/09/09. Had thru 3/13/09. Can open door now, paint is bubbled. 3/16/09 Dealer says he is going to fix it right....And on it goes...... American Honda says too bad
