Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.
Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

By 555 - May 14 - 10:00 amHonda Pilot is one of the best SUVs out there. It handles just like a car and doesnt suck up too much gas. The ride is excellent. The interior design of the Pilot may look plain but it is something that I would sacrifice for its great overall performance.

7yr review - 2009 Honda Pilot
By Byron Wilsom - May 14 - 9:21 amI have 57000 miles on the exl pilot.This SUV is the smoothest running vehicle Ive ever owned.I use it as a work car mostly.It has 4wheel drive.I really wish we would get a lot of snow so I can see how well this works.The amount of snow in central Ohio is very limited.I bought the extended warranty at the dealer and wouldnt do it again.I replaced the battery and replaced the heating element in both front seats.I paid $1300 for extended warranty and have not broke even yet.I have heard these pilots can easily reach 200,000 miles.If you dont drive a lot of miles I wouldnt purchase it.The pilot has the 3 set of airbags on driver and passenger side.It will seat 8 and both seats in back will fold flat on the floor.I would buy this vehicle again.No remorse.

Great in a Blizzard - 2003 Honda Pilot
By Gunnar - May 14 - 2:00 amThe Pilot performed exceptionally well during the Denver Blizzard of March 2003. I had no trouble driving through 18 inches of unplowed snow in my neighborhood. I pulled 4 of my neighbors from the main streets through the subdivision streets using a tow strap. I pulled a subaru 4 wheel drive, a lexus 4 series, a buick late model, and a honda civic to their homes. The owner of the buick said they should have done a commercial for the Honda Pilot becasue he could not believe how well it operated in the blizzard snows we received. I have a stock EX. I could not be happier with my Pilot.

By orly - May 14 - 2:00 amIt comes with a lot of details that are really good and were the the things that attracted me to but it. Nevertheless, I have found some areas that need some improvement. spend a lot of gas; 12mpg city and 15mpg in highway. I know is an SUV, however, japanesse cars are known for being gas econimic. glove compartment needs more space; only a book fits there. last seats row could use a little bit more of height, when I sat one day at that row, I felt as if I was seating by the curb of the road, my knees were way high and I am only a 5.5 foot tall guy. when carrying something on a hitch (four bicycles) the rear suspension buckles. thanks

Not Bad - 2004 Honda Pilot
By diamondmen - May 13 - 11:04 amI bought this vehicle used from auction, it is a basic EX, and impressed with the room inside, I dont like the shifter, doors should lock automaticly when gear in drive and should unlock when parked. I liked the third seat, it is somewhat comfy and folds nicely. Typical honda built with lots of plastic (pampered myself with german cars forever) but functional. I would like the ride to be more connected to the road and have a middle dash shifter. Couldnt try for MPG yet but it seem to guzzle.

Solid Vehicle - 2005 Honda Pilot
By NWhondaFan - May 9 - 1:30 amI bought the Pilot for my wife after exhaustive research. In the running were the Highlander, Explorer and the new Subaru SUV. The Highlander was too bland and had one less seat. The Subaru was just too small and odd. And the Explorer was a non-starter with costly and complex features pricing and marginal reliability. What sealed the deal on the Pilot was driving it. Not only was it safe and reliable, it was very, very comfortable to drive. I have an 01 Accord, and the Pilot rides much better on all surfaces. It has gotten ok gas milage to this point - averaging around 18 in mixed driving.

Great suv - 2004 Honda Pilot
By k tyer - May 8 - 9:13 pmThis vehicle is the best suv weve owned. Have had suburbans and vans none can touch this. Fit and finish is superb. Only small complaint is gas mileage is not as good as advertised, as with all cars!! Tight fit for 7, but o.k. for 5 folks.

By Moises - May 6 - 9:22 pmI got a pilot for the the third row seat, but after driving it, i knew it was the right pick. The way it drove it was awesome. Will buy another one in a heart beat. Might not have the looks but I love it the same. Once you drive it you see why it is the one for you.

Great SUV but questionable gas mileage - 2005 Honda Pilot
By D - May 5 - 11:16 amWhen i picked up vechicle from dealer, the middle arm rest in the backseat had a big scratch in the leather. Same day purchased, i had to set an appt. to bring it back to have it removed/replaced at no charge (just a pain). Went to Reno, NV over the weekend...the roads had chain requirements but the Pilot performed flawlessly. Felt very secure in driving in poor, snowy conditions. Subwoofer and sound system is excellent!
