Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

This is a great suv, having the hondas sporty handling, good turning in twisty roads.

  • unable to fix noise - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

My Pilot has a "clanking" noise in the right rear wheel area when on rough roads. I have taken it to both the local dealers. One replaced the right rear drive shaft, to no avail. The other dealer also documented the noise and called Honda. He was told that "all Pilots make this noise." It is in the trailing arm, they say. I wish one of their higher-ups could drive it! I would certainly be surprised, if they all made this noise!

  • Problems with blue tooth connectivity - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Vehicle works well overall. The biggest nuisance as u probably have read is the infotainment system which is not as user friendly. The blue tooth works ok using Siri to connect for phone calls, but for my music it is staticky and I have not been able to connect to Pandora for a long time no matter what I do. Taking it in to se if they have a patch to fix it and will update rew again later. Wish honda would take notes from the uconnect system in my grand Cherokee; Works way better and very user friendly.

  • Best SUV I have ever owned - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have owned a 4-Runner, Bronco, Suburban, and driven just about every SUV out there and this is the best all around SUV yet. Reliable, gets decent mileage for an SUV and I was shocked at how well it handles and a third row to boot! Very solid. In the snow I have not ben able to get it to lose traction...great AWD system. I will drive this one for years to come and it has 73,000 mi. on it already..not even broken in yet!

  • Perfect choice in this class... - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

After a long and exhaustive research, I opted for the Pilot EXL with Navi. I was going to wait for the 07 but with no change... why bother. Besides getting a price way below invoice was well worth it. I love the fact that this SUV have most if not all of the amenities I wanted. The only thing that I was hoping for was a DVD system ... but they dont offer it with the Navi. I figured if they did, less people will be looking at the Acura version. Overall, Ive put in about 5K miles already and still like driving it. Ive been tracking my mpg (combined) and only getting 18-19. The best was 23 and the worst was 16 mpg.

My Pilot and the selling dealer have been a wonderful experience. I now have 8,000 miles and everything still works! I am building confidence that this trend will continue. I like a car that stands out from the rest and with the extra Honda dress-up options available, I have been able to do just that. I also added 3-Ms chrome wheel-well moldings and a chrome body side accent which was not only easy to install but really gets some double takes. I love fold down second row seating which doesnt require the front seats to be moved forward for clearance. Wake-up GM!

  • WATER LEAKING INTO THE CAR - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have a Honda pilot 2016 LX model, this is my second Honda car. The experience with this car is horrible. Recently, I noticed the water leaking into the car. During the rain in Fremont, CA, the water went inside the car all the way to the floor mat thru the dashboard. I took the car to the local Honda dealer to fix the leaking problem and inspect the dashboard and the floor. Water leaking could spread the rust quickly and may cause some electrical problem. A week later, I got my car back and within 2 days I noticed the water leaking problem is not fixed. I also noticed the metal inside the car dashboard is rusted. I believe, the service center didn’t inspect the dashboard, floor and find the root cause. Now, the car is at the same service center to fix the same problem. The car has not only this problem, it had other problems like remote key was not working, tail light assembly was broken when I got the delivery, screws in rear of vehicle were stripped, takes too long to stop vehicle completely and ON and OFF smoking while driving. The new car has too many issues, I’m also wondering how this car passed the quality control test and testing for water leaking. My main concern is a safety since I have a newborn baby(5 months old) and a kid. I feel traveling with my family in this car may cause issues like computer failure, sensor failure, etc., so I’m avoiding to drive this car with the family. I don’t recommend this car. Honda Customer Service Honda customer service is also worst. I tried to contact the case manager, but I couldn’t reach him to know the status of the car. After several attempts, I reached him, he was simply saying busy with his work and he couldn’t answer all my questions, just saying “he is not a technical person”. I spent $ 35,000 to buy this car and it’s Honda’s responsibility to clarify all customers queries.

  • Nice car, poor gas mileage - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

I like the Pilot very much--it is quiet, tight and fun to drive, but the mileage I am getting is way under what Honda publishes. I have had the car for about 6 weeks now and I am averaging about 14 miles a gallon!!! I am not a "lead foot" kind of driver. I averaged 18 mpg in my last car, a 2000 Ford Windstar (which is not known for great mileage). When I complained to the dealership, I was told that many Pilot buyers had similar complaints. Had I known the mileage was this low, I would have considered another vehicle.

  • MK HONDA - 2004 Honda Pilot

A very competent auto. The front and rear seating positions "feel" large and spacious. Very comfortable for an SUV, smooth and quite at highways speeds, but still, not a car. Average gas usage overall is 14-17 range. Never more that 19 on a long trip. Next time, Ill be looking for better gas mileage. No daytime running lights- except manually on. Overall- very satisfied.9+

  • Love it - 2016 Honda Pilot

Great ride and lots of cargo space. Went from a Tahoe to this and I was worried about size with two kids but this has been great! The accessibility to the third row is great with the technology they used. I also enjoy being able to adjust the back seats. Well designed inside and out!
