Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Love my New Pilot - 2009 Honda Pilot

I have been shopping for a new SUV for 6 months. Almost bought the Toyota 4Runner but decided on Honda Pilot because of 3rd row fold down seat. I love that it does not look like a crossover. The only negative is the 2nd row seats only recline a little. We are a family of 4 coming out of an Odyssey and we loved to be able to recline the 2nd row on long trips. I also like the door cup holders on our 07 CR-V and the 09 Pilot only has them for the 2nd row. There are 2 cup holders in the center console. I love the high tech & luxurious feel of the cockpit. The drivers seat feels very cushy and I love the lumbar support. My kids love the pop out remote control for the DVD. Averaging 17mpg city.

  • Smart Buy - 2003 Honda Pilot

After looking at the top rated modes in this category of SUVs, we narrowed our pick to the Pilot, Highlander, and believe it or not, the Hundai Sante Fe. We eliminated the Hundai because of the interior plastic feel. But when you compare apples to apples on the othere two, the Pilot was at least equal and much less money than the Toyota. At 26k the Toyota come with a 4 cyl engine and 2 wheel drive. At the same price the Pilot comes with a 6 cyl engine and all wheel drive. After only a month, we love this vehicle.

  • Good work Honda! - 2006 Honda Pilot

If you are considering a larger SUV, Honda Pilot is a great vehicle. Lots of power. Commanding view of the road. Gas mileage isnt too bad at 21-25. I have no complaints. I did my research on this vehicle and there is not one thing I would change. Great reliable tough family vehicle. I live in Chicago and have experienced all seasons and the Pilot is safe year round. Lots of room and storage. Plenty of cup holders. If you are considering this vehicle, go drive one. You will like.

  • Cant wait to buy a new one! - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

My family and I absolutely LOVE this SUV! Its affordable and reliable, which is what I need with two young children. I bought my Pilot used, but in my opinion, Hondas dont start running good until they reach 60 k miles! One more year and I will trade my old Pilot in for an 07. I cant wait! It has plenty of room to haul my kids friends around in, plus some. It travels good, rides great, and I just love it! I would highly recommend the Pilot to anyone with a small or large family. Its just the right size no matter what youre doing.

  • Ultimate Family Car/Suv/Van - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

After looking almost all kind of SUV in particular Acura MDX, ML320, X5 we finally decided for Pilot. Of course my first choice was Acura MDX but was too expensive, and luckily I got all standard features in Pilot with $10,000- 00 less. . During heavy snow this year in NY< I was driving all time and did not even had to lock differential. I even drove intentionally to parking lots that were not cleaned afer heavy snow, and due to my surprise did not stuck anywhere. Also after rigrous negotiation did not pay SINGLE dollar extra. Let me know if you are looking for right price and I will give you name of sales person at Planet Honda in NJ.

  • My best Honda ever! - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

Ive owned five Hondas since 1983 and I have to say that my Mocha Metallic 2009 Pilot EX-L is quickly becoming my favorite one. Its car-like and quiet ride has surprised me; its roominess for 8 adults impresses everyone. Its a slam-dunk choice, especially for the goodies you get for the money.

  • Not Happy - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

In the short time I have owned the 2006 Pilot I have to say I am very disappointed. The vehicle has a defective ECM chip that causes great distortion in the radio. At the time of this review Honda does not have a fix for this problem. There is a strong wind noise when you roll down one or more windows. The air actually vibrates and flutters causing your ears to hurt. After buying a third Honda in just over two years this could be my last. If you are thinking of buying this vehicle, be sure you know what you will be getting into.

  • Good - except for NAV system - 2005 Honda Pilot
    By -

Purchased Fall 2004- Do not waste money on the Nav system. Mine was over 2 years out of date at the time of purchase. Contacted Honda America and received the answer that the DVD was the most current at the time my vehicle was delivered. I drive every day on roads that have been complete for over 2 years that do not even show on the NAV. Extremely disappointed with this response from Honda.

  • so far so good - 2006 Honda Pilot

We traded in our 2002 explorer for this car. The Explorer fell apart LITERALLY so we decided the Pilot gives up all of the comfort of the Explorer with the reliability of a Honda. So far we love it. Very roomy and so much storage. The kids love it as well. Cup holders everywhere for them.

  • Great value - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

We have been extremely pleased with the Pilot thus far. The fit and finish on the interior is excellent and all of the controls are fairly intuitive. The car is a pleasure to drive and provides plenty of power around town. We were also impressed with the amound of room in the vehicle. My wife works out of the car and it provides a great platform for a mobile office. A great family vehicle.
