Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

this is a great car -- very comfortable on long trips and very sure-footed off road. perhaps a little ponderous around town, however.

  • Best vehicle I have ever owned! - 2007 Honda Pilot
    By -

Ive had LOTS of cars because I quickly get bored of them. I came across a deal on my 2007 Pilot EXL used in July 2015. It was a one owner and had been hit in the rear but repaired so I got it for $4000. I have taken long road trips, and its my daily commuter, about 50 miles a day stop and go city and highway driving. This SUV does everything I need it to do. Its got speed on the highway even at 70 I can punch it to pass and it reacts quickly. Mine has leather and the seats are very comfortable and I am a big guy (6 and 250) I have plenty of head/leg room. Nice big armrest. Lots of storage. I have AWD and this thing will NOT get stuck, but I have all terrain tires. Ive only had it 9 months but I love it just as much as the day I bought it. Has 240,000 miles and drives like new because the previous owner kept timing belt and all maintenance up to date. I plan on getting a good 300k easy. I wrote my novella here hope it helps! :)

  • Nice Car But it Has a Few Design Issues - 2016 Honda Pilot

The 2016 Pilot looks great and runs fantastically. My chief complaint is the fact that the passenger side mirror doesnt have the camera. I assumed the highest end model would have the camera when I ordered my 2016 Pilot. I was extremely disappointed to find it doesnt. I have a 2014 Accord with the camera and have grown to depend on it for safety reasons. I wish Honda would offer an "after market" camera for the passenger side. If I had know this I would have ordered the Touring edition. I am not a happy camper with Honda.

  • 11,000 miles later... - 2006 Honda Pilot

I purchased this vehicle 9/06, and have put 11,000 miles since. I was in the market for an all-weather vehicle that could carry 4 adults plus gear on an all-day road trip in comfort, and the Pilot has performed that role beautifully. Others have complained about road noise, but I have found it quite reasonable on many long days. If this is a concern for you, do a freeway test drive and decide for yourself. The NAV system works pretty well -not perfect, but good (disclaimer - I have NOT read the entire, lengthy manual for it) but sometimes the routing is quirky. I have averaged just under 20 MPG combined.

  • great family travel vehicle - 2003 Honda Pilot

Great family vehicle. Comfortable ride and handling (after replacing OEM tires). Good ergonomics for a big man.

  • Unhappy since 2003 - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Leased my pilot the first year out, and will never do that again. I have been unhappy with this car since the first month I bought it. There are things that you dont realize in your 10- minute test drive. My biggest complaint is the extremely poor design of the driver seat -it leans back instead of supporting your head,it protrudes behind your shoulders, and there is no lower back support. I get back aches whenever I drive more than 20 minutes. Also, very little leg room for us long-legged drivers. Other problems Ive had: struts were replaced after 2 years, shifts roughly going uphill, loud squeaking when backing up,front air-vents wont stay stationary. Cant wait to turn it in!

  • Awesome midsize SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot

Just recently purchased my gentle used Pilot and been enjoying it ever since. Had a little over 16k miles and seem brand new. Very tight construction. Much better mileage than you would expect for its size. Very spacious, storage galore. Firm but comfortable ride. Quiet cabin and even still with windows open, impressive. Awesome engine and 5 speed. Silky smooth running. Typical Honda quality aplenty.

  • Pilot is great! - 2003 Honda Pilot

I really like my Pilot, I just wish I could have had the heated front seats and exterior mirrors that were offered in Canada last year, and are now options on the EXL. Still, it is a great family vehicle.

  • Very Happy - 2006 Honda Pilot

Very happy with purchased the Pilot. Went into the dealer thinking wed prefer a CRV, but after driving the Pilot, are extremely satisfied with our decision to upgrade. Did LOTS of research.

  • After One Year - Cant Wait to Get Rid of This SUV - 2016 Honda Pilot

The Infotainment System is the most frustrating, poorly designed, inaccurate and user "unfriendly" system on the market!
